i would have to agree with iamgreat the ta in bosie is a joke, i had to park there one nite on my way out to slc from tacoma. had to park by the broken dwn school bus's they have in the parkin lot "classy"
the best one i've been to is mittens and the one on 97 outside or in laPine OR. pretty nice for what i belived to be a family owned truckstop

The Love's in Ardmore, OK was pretty bad when I stopped by there last week.

I was on my way to Durant to play some poker after coming over from Duke and passed the Flying J on the I-35. I thought long & hard about turning around, but I figured since I'm getting points on my Love's card for the $19.99 50' hose, I'll just fill up and shower there since it's the next exit. Mistake! The tile that used to be white was yellow, the grout which used to be white was black, and I think the towel used to be a very large piece of 60 grit sandpaper!

I'm new to this, but I'm surprised to hear that the TAs are so bad since they seem to charge more than the rest. Guess I'll stick with the J's!

All the chains are pretty much hit or miss. I had a nice, clean shower at the Pilot in Findlay, OH once -- even left a tip for the guy who cleaned it and told him what a great change it was to have a clean shower. My co-driver and I always use Anywhere hard surface sanitizing spray in every shower we go in. We go in, spray it on all of the stuff we anticipate touching and let it sit for a few minutes before using anything. We also have shower shoes that we use to take a shower in - can't stand the thought of walking on the floors or standing barefoot in the stall itself. As for the nicest showers, the Little Americas have nice big, clean showers and they have tubs too. Sky City in Acoma, NM (about 60 miles west of Albequerque off of I-40) has really nice ones too. Other than those places, I always expect the worst and if it's halfway decent I'm pleasantly surprised, and if it's a pit, I am not disappointed. Always glad to have a shower though.

I've stopped there a couple of times and showered and stayed over-night. It's one of the older TA's and was relativley safe and quiet, but the showers were dirty and the A/C never worked in the shower area during the summer. Hotter than hell. Had to towel off 3 x's from sweating.:biggrin_2551:

It's hit or miss. I've had then best luck with J's and Petro's but there are some true scum suckers in both. I'll pretty much avoid T/A showers but there are a few that I'd reccomend such as the TA at mm503 on I-20 in Terrell Texas, nice place with almost always a parking spot. Pilots=Coffee &fuel.

my wife and I were coming out of colorado and we were coming into nebraska. My wife suggested that we stop in Big Springs, NE at the Bosselmen's to shower. I told her that we will be getting on I80 east of that and we need to go east on I80. I told her that we will just stop at Hershey, NE to eat and take showers. Well she argued with me and we ended up getting onto I 80 right at Big Springs. But I just drove right on by. She was not a happy camper. Well when we got to Hershey she told me that these showers better be just as nice and clean as the ones in Big Springs. Well they weren't. She was pissed. In her shower she was afraid that the ####roaches were gonna carry her away. She was in the shower and she turned around and there was a huge hole in the wall about 12" covered by a piece of plexi-glass that had atleast a carton of smokes behind it. I was waiting for her out in the resturaunt and when she came out she chewed me a new one. She has never let me live that down.

I kinda also mentioned to her that I had showered there before but I hadn't. :biggrin_25523:

P.S. this is his wife.......he will NEVER live that down.

Out of all the coffee I've had on the road (and I love my coffee), Pilot's seem to have the best. Some of the newer Loves' have the selection of coffees and have to keep it fresh. But no matter how nice the Flying J is, their coffee ALWAYS borders on "fresh but lousy" and Horse piss!!!:biggrin_2555:
