Let's be clear. This was my first day. I WILL be pulling a skateboard again, just not everyday.
Meltom, DrtyDiesel and Cheryl Thank this. -
Pilot in south carolina, i85 x35. Covenant driver backed into the spot next to me and hit my truck.
Luckily it was just my passenger side mirror

Well I wasn't sure how to do it. She said get into dock 1, so I nosed it in. How was I supposed to know it didn't go all the way through?
DrFlush, DrtyDiesel, Lantern and 3 others Thank this. -
Done for the day at OHTP Clyde service plaza west. 9 hours out and need to somehow land in Green Bay at exactly 0100 Friday. Reefer appointment angst

Sitting at the hook, exit 15 on I-80. Didn't feel like sitting in the Graveyard with no internet so here I am. Also found the last spot up front next to the fuel island. I couldn't believe that at 6:30 there was still a spot this close open. My fortune!
OH, sat at my shipper this morning/afternoon for 3 1/2 hours to get loaded. Did a whopping 188 miles today!
So to answer the question to the newbie who wants to know how much he will get paid weekly? Based off today, I'm National flat bed and Van is different:
1. Untarp - Lumber $20
2. Detention time - $15
3. Tarp - Steel $12
4. Miles 188 - *.36 = $67.68 (and that's what I did, not exactly what I will get paid for.)
Total = $114.68 for a 14 hour day. $8.19 an hour if you want a real comparison.
Now give me back my 90 minutes of detention and give me 90 miles driving... $15 versus $32.40 I would rather be driving!

Yay a flatbedder knows how to back up to a dock...holy cow...so how many tries did it take you tree??
-
Mic, one pull up because I have an auto shift and it's really throwing off my groove. Not to mention I've never driven one until this morning. However I did get to roll down the interstate with the "small to mid sized dogs today" (as opposed to the big dogs) as I can roll at 67.
-
see isn't it nice to go faster than 61.....but congrats on your bumping of docks...LOL...
-
Might I ask, who are you working for now?
Also, since you said "auto shift" is that your permanent truck?
Also, also you said 67. Fuel mileage is best conserved at 63. Why you got to be rubbing it in?
Also, also, also. Congratz!
