Hey Doc
Thanks for letting me know where you hang out and I see that the normal riff raff is already here LMAO!
When you get a job/company -start on thread on that company page -easier for folks to follow- but make sure you give where you are going like you did in ORG's thread or post a link!DocFrank Thanks this. -
What a semi, almost,nearly fantastic,limbo-loaded relief.
I got my employee code number and I'm sort of going to get paid but I can't really breathe that final exquisite sigh of relief for another 240 hours, with approval from my trainer, after passing some sort of test.
Still, I am so looking forward to getting out there and learning all the rest of the stuff that you'd think a school that wasn't a license mill would teach you.
It's funny, we listened to some more films, filled out more paper work and were informed we were hired...all without once getting in a tractor and driving. I mean, not that I'm complaining, but where's the road test? Could it be that the road test is 240+ hours long and we won't really know if we have a job that will last until that's over?
I don't know, but the way we've been treated, the quality people I've met so far, both students and Swift employees has been of the best or "top shelf" as Karen would say (my lovely wife from Wales). It doesn't seem possible that there would be a company that would honestly care about it's employees welfare and really do more than just give lip service to the pleasing platitudes they proclaim in their brochures. I'm too old to be treated this nicely!
They had us check out from the motel (it really is quite nice and free breakfast too!) this morning and when they couldn't get enough trainers to take us out they had us check back in! One guy, Coby, got a trainer and he was the youngest, least experienced one of us in our class of 6. They told us at 4 to be sure we checked out again before 11 am Friday as they didn't want to pay for extra days which tells me that they expect to have trainers for all needing them in the morning. I suspect that if they don't they'll put us up again. Is it just me or does that seem really nice?
I understand that Swift is the largest trucking company in the US (so they say and I have no reason to doubt them) if not the world but when is the last time you saw a big bureaucracy actually care about a cog and the least significant one at that? I guess I'm saying that I don't know what to think this is so beyond my realm of experience. I'm suspicious, waiting for the other shoe to fall as it were, but I can't help but feel...well...good.
Tomorrow is another day and I shall await whatever it brings me with hope? what a strange feeling.
Oh and just for you my Catkin I will continue this thread over at the same place ORG started his.
Be safe, and don't let the Minahunees get you.BLADE RUNNER and sammycat Thank this. -
