Well they call me, "Maniac" when they are not mad at me. You might be asking yourself, "What do they call you when they are mad at you". To be honest, I am not usually around when they are mad.........lol

On a serious note, and this is a true story. One time, I was going down Mt. Eagle in Tennessee and I was grossed right at 80,000 pounds. I went into the inspection area where you check your brakes. Just as soon as I started down the hill. My air brakes went out on my truck. I went around that final curve on 9 wheels, and I kept the truck and trailer upright without rolling it over. This old truck driver got on the radio, and ask if I was okay. Knowingly, that scared the daylights out of me. I replied to the old truck driver with, "Yes sir, but that scared me to death". He went on to say, "I have been on the road for nearly 40 years, and I have never in my lifetime ever seen someone make it by doing that without rolling the truck over, and he said, "You definitely have trucking in you, if you can do that". He went on to say, "Have you got a handle young man". My reply was, "No sir, I don't". He said, "I got one for you, it's called, maniac". Until this day, God was with me when I went around that last curve at Mt. Eagle on 9 wheels going East on I-24.

I live 8 miles from Monteage, TN....you would be suprised how many people end up using the run away ramps because they don't respect that mountain!!! Folks just because a mountain isn't in the west with a 10 mile climb doesn't mean it is not dangerous!!!

    Nice post Maniac!!

Thank you, fireba11, I literally seen my whole life past before me going around that final curve, and a long with some bodily functions from the fright....lol...On a serious note, I am deeply grateful I was able to live to tell about it, and keep the truck in good working order on top of that.

My handle is lucky dog. My father was a carpenter and his company had cb's in their pickups. They had a dog they named lucky who "patroled" the yard at night. Any number of occasions my dad would find shoes or article of clothings that lucky had ripped off someone who had climbed the fence looking to steal something. Dad loved that dog so he took the handle lucky dog. When my father died in 81, I took the handle in memory of him but i didn't start trucking until 87 or 86. Ha! I'm getting old..the memory, it fades.

I didn't read all 71 pages of this, so it may have been answered. I know you don't NEED a handle, but if you do how do you get it? Give it to yourself, has to be given to you like nicknames, what if someone has the same handle? I'm sure those are ridiculous questions, but just getting started as a driver I'd like to be as informed as possible.
