Anytime a log is edited it automatically flags for audit. No one can change it without it recording who changed it. They can't make any changes and go undetected.

Well Duh !!!....Everyone knows that. You're not anwsering the question. Also .... What's to stop a company from using a "dummy" account ( IE: no person assigned to a log in name) to audit logs. Very easy to do on a network .

The driver will know when his logs are edited so it's on him to make a common sense decision to refuse to do something he shouldn't.

People are thinking way to much into this. It's not that dramatic.

Yes. When a log is edited with a EOBR, the driver still has to approve the logs. Otherwise the logs aren't a legal document.

and the fmcsa will continue to go ahead with csa and eobr, will change nothing as the agencies think they are above congress. And the administration will back the agency, and tell congress to pound sand.

Been on the Elog for 2 years. Can't tell you how many times I have had to park out in the middle of nowhere because my 14 was up. Held up at the shipper? to bad, the clock keeps on ticking. Try being in the middle of Los angeles and your 14 is about up. What do you do? you take an extra dose of blood pressure pills. Now, if your with a company that gives you two days to go 500 miles you will love Elogs.

Hmmm....lots to ponder. I always did and do use paper logs. My friend worked for a company who did elogs. It limited him totally. He hated it. He lost time at shipper/receivers, shops, and so on. It took away lot of the freedom of the drive. Freedom of sleeping when he wanted, freedom of starting the log day when he wanted and finishing the log day when he wanted. Maybe its the difference of old school trucking and new school trucking. One driver stated that he had to make better use of his time using elogs, i would imagine so since the freedom of the run was no longer in his control but the control of the elog. Less stress? Seems like being under the control of the elog instead of yourself would be stressful to me. More money? poppycock! Dispatchers and planners being held accountable? Horse hockey! Drivers always have and always will be the one who are held accountable. Anyway, thats my opinion...I could be wrong. Good luck!

If you can't drive 500 miles in 2 days, there's something wrong. You can do that in one 11hr shift with a 62mph truck easily. Also, that 14 hour clock ticks whether or not you have a EOBR. Don't blame the machine, blame the rules that regulate the machine as they are the same rules that regulate paper.

    What do you do?

It's called a trip plan. Before you accept any load, you NEED to make sure you have the HOS to legally run it. If you don't have the hours, don't accept the load. I also find it hard to believe you didn't even have the time to drive to TA. Running out of hours like that is directly linked to poor trip planning. FWIW, if the shipper doesn't allow truck parking then you take the log violation and find somewhere to park.

Technically your clock will continue on paper logs to. Get with a better carrier that can plan properly.

500 miles in 2 days? I left home Sunday morning and will be hone tomorrow evening and will be right at 3000 miles this week. All in 5 1/2 days
