This use to be a great Company but it's gone down hill. I've been here over 7 years and am going elsewere Next week. Some drivers will tell u how great they are but there more then likely wanting the Referal money or there they "A" Team as there called by other drivers there. Those drivers are the ones that will buy food for Dispatch, Kiss Butt or set for a week with no pay to cover a show load. Unless your with The "A" team the Money and or setting time is will Brake you.
They love to Punish you if you don't take a load that pays $.86 a Mile with fuel Sur charge and dead head. They tell you if you don't take it you will have to wait a few days and thats all they have in that area. Now don't get me wrong I know there are times when that happends BUT when an "A" driver gets there an Hour after you do and they offer him a $2.00 a mile load, even though they tell you its First in First Out,it will tick you off. Theres also a law suite against them do to the way they pay and Cheating the Drivers.
I and many of the Drivers know they have a slush Fund and thats for money thats suppose to go to the Truck that they Cheated you out of. An Example: Took a Show load from Cali. to OR. and was offerd $250 to drive 850 miles.I found out latter they Charged the Customer $600 per truck for the dead head.
When u call in with a concern about the Money u talk to head of Dispatch Brian. And This "Bi Polor" guy is a JOY to talk to. He will tell u very simpley that they have many apps. to choice from and if u don't like it theres the Door.
But hey maybe U can be an "A" driver and Love working here but myself I don't kiss Butt to make a Living. So I move on.

I am sorry to hear that your experience with Trailer Transit has gone downhill. I have been there for about the same amount of time and my relationship with them is good. But there again I was with northAmerican Van Lines for 16 years when there were drivers who had a bad experience and left after a year.
Sounds like an operational misunderstanding. Picking out individual loads and trying to determine whether or not they paid their way doesn't work on a percentage contract arrangement. Frankly I don't care what each load pays. I add them all up over say a 3 month period and divide by the miles I have driven. If it isn't at the profit target I have determined, I have a little talk with the folks in operations, preferably in person. The next 3 months should be at the target. I also don't care or inquire what the other drivers are doing. More often than not you aren't going to get accurate information anyway.
As far as "getting along" with either dispatchers or planners, no matter what company is involved, they hold all the cards. Maybe the 3 years I spent as a dispatcher and supervisor for Penske Logistics gave me a little peek at what that side of the phone is up against. Once you have lost that spirit of cooperation it is time to leave, no matter who might have been responsible.
Good luck in your next contract.

I have been with trailer transit for just over a year, and i have experienced the everything that dirt and corn said and more. They so have some good paying loads, but to get them you have to do 2 or 3 cheap loads and then alot of bobtail. Then they try to lump or average everything together to make it look like its a reallu good deal. Also, first in first out is a very gray area. I have caught the dispatchers in several lies. They will book you on several loads so that you will take bad load which means if you drop somewhere that another deivee haa been waiting on a load, you already have one and thay arw sol. Of the 12dispatchers months i have been here, i have only had about 4 reallu good weeks. The comment about brian was right on the money...if you turn down a load that the regular dispatchers could not sell you on, he will call you up and commence to telling you how to run your truck blah blah blah...very condesending attitude. They need to realize that times have changed and that there is a reason so many drivers have left and they have been forced to hire some less than desirable o/o. Finnally, a large percentage of trucks are really ragged out
. What does that tell you?

I drove for NAVL back in '80 -'81 in high value products, delivered quite a few loads to Kennedy Space Center. Not much money we had good times!
