I have applied for many different companies, but after careful consideration these seem like the best two for me. My question is, which one is better? I am not a trucker yet and will be attending these companies for their training and then a job. What are the pros and cons of each and overall which would be a better choice for a newbie. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

What do you want to do? Van, Reefer, Flatbed?

That will help you make a decision. If all you want to do is dry van, go with Millis.

If you want to have options, like van, flatbed, reefer, curtainside, etc, then go with Roehl.

One offers flexibility without leaving a company, the other excels at what it does, but that's all it does.

    Good Luck.

I can't say much about Roehl except I have heard they are a good company to work for. I have a good bud who went through Millis school and is very happy, to the point of always trying to get me to go there. I know he nets $750.00 and alot of weeks more running regional, home for a restart every weekend and usually a night or two during the week. Good equipment, ect.
The regional depends on where you live, but they have a large hireing area for the otr. I have some medical issues I am taking care of right now so I dont want to change companys during this, but I am going to take a serious look at them in a couple months time since every driver I know and talk to from there all say good things about them, and say they will not leave.
    Hope this is some help.

Roehl's CDL school is where I attended. After almost 2 years working for them I still feel it was the right choice. As a flat bed driver I have hauled all sorts of things. Some have been very challenging and others were simple. The fact that I am not bumping docks always keeps a smile on my face. Roehl has been a good fit for me. Some complain that they are "micro" managed. I have never felt that way. Roehl's CDL school if nothing more made me a safer driver all around. Good luck in your endeavor.

If you want to learn the safest way to drive a truck ROEHL the whole way. Not saying Millis isn't safe by no means, but Roehl drives safety into your head where you begin to live it. Both are great starter company's but just keep one thing in mind which ever company you choose try your darnedest to stay there at least a year it will make your life so much easier in the long run..

Apply to both and see if they will take you, alot of people dont get accecpted to Millis, Location is a big factor.
Millis has a higher starting pay, and faster trucks, with elogs faster=more miles= more$$.
Cant speak for Roehl, But havent really heard anything all that bad about them
