I think I can line up a truck to do the driving skills test then it is direct to Eagle Ford Shale, maybe now Gonzales County
I hear Pioneer sounds like the company I should make first effort for and Nabors was the only one to answer the phone correctly on first 9 that I called to start job search with ~ someone just suggested Gold Spur but that sounds like push drivers harder than what I can take -- any comments or observations welcome
Gold Spur or Pioneer?.....

From everything I've heard gold spur is run very poorly. There's more than one post on this forum about them and they're all negative. Pioneer is one of the best to work for in the oilfield. I don't want to discourage you but you really don't have a chance to get on with them. I've got five years of oilfield driving experience and they didnt call me back. I know a lot of other guys with as much experience as me if not more who didn't get called either. I would focus on key or nabors if I was you. The oilfield seems to be slowing a little. My company just layed off ten guys. I would get in as fast as you can and prove yourself before this thing crashes again.

Don't go to Gold Spur. I've heard from more than one person that their trucks don't even have A/C....and in TX heat

Word is if one goes to enough places - with CDL in hand - someone will hire direct to cab + study published yesterday by University of Texas at San Antonio Institute for Economic Development is very promising plus my advance states the current reduction is at most a passing event in a watershed feed + one gov agency with reason to know states EFS is larger than Alaska North Slope
Nabors?... wow, that's good = they were the only one to answer the phone correctly of 9 "first try(s)" that I called, after working Gonzales & Karnes County I will go to Nabors first if I make it to Victoria,.....and as long as we are talking and you have actual experience with the matter what would be the balance in your view Apply at 50 Companies in Victoria as I have a list -VS- "drive around and look for a job" following billboards and newspaper clippings from Karnes, Gonzales, Bee, Dewitt, & North end of Live Oak........
Seems to me there is an issue of whether an Office in Victoria will actually know and be interested in field-operations,..... I sorta have an issue on how that works so any real experience is of use in planning
Allie Cat ~ that is what I thought, even though I could tell it from the web-page, seen to many of them in construction industry -
Honestly I think you will spin your wheel in south Texas. From what I've seen south Texas is more strict on experience requirements. If you go to west Texas and spend a full day fillin out apps I'm confident you'll have a job by the end of the first day. I think you'll be able to find a job in south Texas but it will take some looking. Different areas have different insurance req. In the fort worth area where I'm at there's only one or two companies that would even consider hiring you without some experience.

You do not want to work for Gold Spur! They treat their drivers worse than their equipment...and the equipment is total crap! The management is absolutely horrible...
-
well, I cannot get that on this site but short of it is oil just went back over $100 according to Reuters ( found via Google News ) then [ this morning ] I also found another good source: The Texas Tribune
....then, for what it is worth - since this is my thread:
dot xls file should always be stripped down to simple, raw, text, anything else is "management" so anyone that is not decades of field-ops is to me management ~ which translates to ineffective
Me99 - noted, and not dis-agreeing, though with all the work experience I have I can walk on to someplace like goldspur and get time in cab then move on to someplace with decent equip or some other "benefits" of some kind that make it worth it ~ which for me translates 100-% as being allowed to park an 8-foot-to-twelve-foot "cargo-van" trailer that I can tow with my C-1500 4.3 Litre Cast Iron-Block, Aluminum-Heads, Plastic Intake Manifold { ridiculous to any real mechanic } .... in the yard on the basis that I dont steal and have clean DPS ( and some other things I will skip so I dont get ridiculed )
If you think GS treats their drivers like underlings, you should go for some 7x14 's with the guy that I work for who thinks he is a Lieutenant Colonel in Air Force Special Operations ~ has an intelligence score somewhere around 180 and hits like a chain-binder being released due to all the steel plates in his arm .......
one place here in town, I intentionally blew it as they had a Gold Hard Hart on pedestal in front-office,....
seems Nabors is the ideal place though - like me99 says - I cannot expend a the few hundred dollars I have to launch based on any idea someone as good as Nabors will direct-to-hire though I can expect that I can find some job of some kind then live in the truck for awhile while doing job search,.....
issue this morning is finding someplace that will rent a truck for the driving skills DMV examination,.....DPS bench officer stated they examine rental contract if you are in a rental truck as those often have a rental contract stipulation that the truck is not to be used to take the driving test,....
I am considering contacting places like A.T.D.S. to see if they would do something like what I need -
Who is doing the rotation (2 weeks on/1 week off-paid-)?

STAY AWAY FROM GOLD SPUR!
They are extremely poorly run, the equipment is way beyond crap, and Allison K. (HR Chick) doesn't know her A-Hole from her elbow. She also lies as though it truly was indeed the gospel and then acts like it's your fault when you call her on it.
Stay away, stay away, stay away... oh, and tell all your friends too!
