You are right, they don't time stamp. I was told we were time stamped by my last safety director. He refused to get us prepass because he knew we had to fudge a lot. I couldn't figure out why for a long time because I figured a green light would be better. He didn't want our CSA data out there and us getting more red lights. Avoid it all together. Someone without prepass will have to go in but they won't be as easily identifiable like a flashing red lettered screen.

What does happen is they have a PSA2 formula which figures your CSA data. Based on them numbers is the percentage of that companies trucks that get red lighted. Hence if you have a company with a lot of violations and OoS in the past, they are more likely going to get red lighted and the chance of inspection is greater. So if logbook violations got you in that position in the first place most likely they will find more. Change thy ways. :)

A couple facts I found. Prepass is a private company but it's start up was funded by the DOT.

    FAQ's

What about the DOT? After all they have monitors in every scalehouse.

Both those statements are worded kind of fishy. Prepass won't get involved but it avoids saying DOT won't collect and use the data.

I understnad that many are quoting what website information is offering to you but knowing that Pre Pass or any other system by any other name can track your movement I would never drive anything with a system like that.

Do you have a cell phone? The government can and has subpoenaed cell phone records to prosecute drivers in the past. The cases involved crashes, but they did track by cell phone to prove the driver's whereabouts.

Everything now days has an electronic time stamp, even guys that use cash for fuel, that receipt has a time stamp. I understand not using Prepass if your company has a bad safety rating, but if the rating is good it certainly saves time over pulling in to a scale that is backed up clear on to the freeway.

Best post in the thread right here. Condo's is a close Second. It's 2012. Everything can track your whereabouts. Heck Qualcomm can pull up the EXACT location of your truck within mere feet (I'm not talking about what truckstopyou're in, but rather what parking space your truck is in.) My Android cell phone has not 1, but 3 separate GPS services running on it. As said before, fuel receipts are time/date stamped. PrePass, in all honesty, is the least of your worries in that regard....and if you are part of the black helicopter/tin foil hat group, may I suggest a quaint cabin in the Cascades somewhere.

I, for one, enjoy my PrePass. It always makes me smile when I get the green light and get to see the super trucker that blew my doors off 5 minutes ago sitting in that line.

I have a cell and Android, but not a problem since being legal is not the issue. The fraudulent feel good of we will not track you if you use our product is my rub with pre pass or any other system, that is my point.

The Prepass is back on, mine worked for a week after they came back on. Now I don't get a red, yellow, or green light(I think it broke in Ohio, smacked a low branch.). As for why Don's son(poster) hasn't responded. Last time I saw them was in NJ/NY state line.

Time stamps time stamps time stamps... EZ pass is the only thing that really keeps time stamps since they bill the user/company for it. Now to stay out of the line of fire I will just say, EZ pass and Prepass confuse me.

It's on the Internet, so it MUST be true!

Those statements are very carefully worded, if you look closely.

Sure, the PrePass doesn't give speed information at any given moment. But timestamps can be used to calculate your average speed.

And no, PrePass doesn't retain timestamp data. But don't think for a minute that the states don't have their OWN database of who went through and when. Yes, they save the data that PrePass sends to their screens. And also don't think for a minute that they don't SHARE that data between themselves.

I pay with a credit card, and all of my receipts have a date, but most have no time printed on them.
