Why CSA 2010 and E-Logs are a good thing.

Why not just hire smart people with a desire to help, I don't care what you background is. I don't think for a moment that I know everything, I learn new things everyday. It's more about your approach. I've had the pleasure to work with a safety director that was a driver. Thing is it was his way or the highway, all decisions were made before the drivers point of view was given based off of the safety directors experience when he was a driver. I'm not certain that's any better. I'm far from perfect but I am constantly searching for improvement, mostly from myself. I can't expect others to do a better job if I'm not setting the bar high.

HOS, CSA, EOBR and whatever else laws and regulations comes out of FMCSA and Congress are the result political debate by political bodies. Even the process of the arguments pro EOBR.....etc.(Tazz, Meltom, Autocar, etc.) and con (Roadwarrior and the rest of the opposing crowd) is a political debate in it's self.

Look! Regardless of your position on isues like EOBR and CSA, any instrument that regulates and governs society is a product of politics and the two cant be separated. It's a fine line between laws and regulations that provide justice and order, and laws and regulations that are simply designed to be a brutal force of coercing instruments governing society from the special interests and power factions point of view.

Are we allowed to be talking about laws and regulations, their intent and their originating points on this thread, or just a never ending stream of trucking world anecdotes?

I think the point is, off topic is off topic. When it's that far off topic either the thread dies, or it gets shut down. Overall I think it's a healthy discussion.

This thread stayed on topic (CSA and EOBR) for 120+ pages before it morphed into the slings of the current POTUS campaign....let's leave the real "Politics" in politics and stay on track about CSA and electronic BS here!

 

Is discussing law and regulation issues an "off topic" on this thread?
Is the practice of drawing parallels between different laws and regulations, in order to make a point, an "off topic" argument?
Then, explain to me this: Why is the practice of annexing and hiding laws into bills that have nothing in common with the original intent of the bill in order to pass them in an incognito fashion?

Is it probably the view of the "smart" people, up above the rest of us lemmings, that they are the only ones that have a superior capability to stay "on topic" even though they're boarding many unrelated issues at the same time?
Or it's just a way to pass laws and regulations which other ways wont stand a chance to be passed into law?

We're talking on this thread about proposals that have been passed into law, aren't we?

Shouldn't we be allowed to discuss about the way this things became law?

Or this is all about making sure that the separation between the "smart" people wearing $5000 suits and $2500 shoes,( creating and enforcing laws and regulations), and the working stiffs in $15 wall-mart blue jeans and T shirts, (that only have to comply or else suffer the consequences), is made clear?
I have seen stated in a preceding comment that the "smart" people in positions of autority don't need to know anything about the job of the people under their authority and vice versa.
Then, how in the world can they regulate something that they have no idea of what the job it's all about?

Oh, OK, they're just "smart" and everybody should listen and obay them without questioning anything!

For once meltom I agree with u. And westbound and otter I agree with as well. It truly is a pro and con and I apologize for losing My cool to the members. I know logs my way and the newer drivers know the new way.
