4g is so limited still it's almost impossible to find unless you drive a truck in a bigger city... Figure at least 3-5 years before we'll actually be able to see it OTR.
I'm lucky to have 3G or even EDGE in some areas.

I'm using Virgin, and am grandfathered into unlimited data for $40/month. Only real problem is they piggy-back their signal from Sprint. If the Sprint phone signal is as crappy as the broadband signal, no way I will ever get a Sprint phone.

In the areas I usually run, more often than not the places I stop for my10 usually have 3G coverage. -

I installed an app on my phone called "Gingerbreak" on my phone that roots it and unroots it with one tap. The download site says it doesn't work on all phones, and on some phones, it will format the SD card, and warns you to remove it before running it. It runs flawlessly on my LG Optimus V with no issues. Do some googling, you'll find the site with the .apk file to install it on your phone.
Another option, the one I prefer actually, is an app called "EasyTether." It costs a one time ten bucks, you plug your phone into your laptop's USB port and tether away. It's not wifi, but a direct connection, which is more secure anyway. You also get the added benefit of your phone charging while you're tethering.Hegemeister and BluBeaSSt Thank this.
