I like it. Roomier inside and a better ride. Still getting settled and used to the transmission. It pulls hills better than my old one.ped Thanks this.

I'm at Carry, but was told that it pretty much is determined by the freight that each terminal books. At SBL, while we are one big company, its almost like its a bunch of small companies. What is the norm at one terminal will never happen at another.
There are Carry drivers out of the Cincinnati terminal. Not sure how many or if they are hiring anymore. If you can go SPCR I'd do it in a heart beat over Carry...but that's just my opinion. I'd much rather do chemical than food grade, but closest SPCR yard is like 143 miles, while my CRRY yard is 36 miles. Don't get me wrong, CRRY isn't bad, I'd just rather get paid better and get to do chemicals at SPCR. -
We had a new truck in Decatur with less than 5,000 miles on it that had the same thing happen. I can't remember what he said about it, but the mechanic said they are a new/different type of chamber and I guess they are junk but that's the only one International/Navistar uses anymore.

Thanks for the info sir. I am going to contact both terminals on Monday and see what they tell me. My situation is a little better than yours, I checked it on mapquest and from door to door, I am approximately 70 miles from the Carry terminal and approximately 35 miles to the Superior terminal. I done chemical back in 1999-2000 and liked it until the company closed the terminal in Cincinnati and let all the employees go even though there was only 6 of us. I was very interested in giving food grade a try.Last edited: Jul 12, 2012

Again, you'll have to check with the terminal manager at the specific terminal you're looking at. At the Morrow terminal I was told it was a requirement and that if I didn't have it I would need to get it ASAP after I was hired. Perhaps that just means Morrow sends lots of loads to Canada and High Point doesn't.

I can tell you I was required to get one in order to be brought on board. I am out of the Morrow terminal. I was told it is a new policy for new hires.

Well, talked to the Superior terminal manager and the Carry terminal manager on Friday 7/13 and explained to them my situation and they told me that they could work around me not having a passport. Put my application in on line for Carry since I don't have my haz-mat endorsement back on my license yet. I did however submit my fingerprints on Thursday for the background check. Hopefully I will hear something soon. Will keep everyone posted.

The International part changer took about 6 hours to replace 2 brake chambers on my truck Wednesday. He didn't seem to be very knowledgeable and had to get another mechanic to show him how to set the slack adjusters. He didn't know whether the yellow button should be in or out. I was glad he had another guy adjust them. I always thought the dealerships trained mechanics better than that. Picked up about 9 hours of break down pay
Dispatch simply scheduled my delivery for the next day and I ran it up there Thursday. Pump unload from a rear trailer. I hope it was caused by the trailer but it took 4 3 inch hoses to reach my pump. I didn't want to drop the trailer even though there was room because the unloading area was gravel. I was glad I stuffed as many hoses as I could on the trailer because I needed every one. I did learn that once you put hose caps on that they might not fit back in the tube. I wound up leaving 2, 2 inch hoses at the plant because they simply would not fit in the trailer tube with hose caps on. I wasn't about to try bungeeing them to the outside of the tank with a placarded load. The only way I got the hoses I did back on the truck was by staggering the ends and taking a screw driver to push the steel fitting into the rubber hose. I think the issue is once the caps are on the hose doesn't flex as easily. Both me and the guy helping unload worked about 30 minutes, both of us pushing on the hoses to get what we did in those small tubes. Tank wash guys will probably have to tie a rope around them and use a tractor to pull them out. They can send a shop truck over to get them if we don't deliver another load there.
I got back to the Memphis yard where it took them 3 hours to clean my pump and fittings. They had a load waiting for me at BASF in West Memphis heading to Greensboro. I just grabbed it and since it was 5 PM stayed in West Memphis. Ran to Wytheville Va Friday and delivered the load Sat at 7 AM. I got home around 11:00.
I am heading back out early Monday with a Plaquemine La out and back. I should be home by Wednesday afternoon. Hopefully they will have something short for Thursday and Friday. I will be on vacation the following week.rubberducky68 Thanks this. -
I was just in Memphis, West Memphis and Greensboro the other day. Probably just missed you at the Memphis terminal or Greensboro. My head is spinning from the long week. Can't hardly remember what days those were!
