    Natural fibers..... Silk and wool.

Both of these will keep you warm.

A full set of silk long johns with sock liners is like $50.00 for good ones.

Wool socks, wear em year round. $8.00 a pair on average. Last a long time too.

You don't have to go overboard on the cold weather gear. I bought a insulated pair of Carhartt bibs 13 years ago and hardly ever used them. I used them more for snowmobiling and ice fishing. They are just too bulky for tarping. You are only going to be outside for an hour or so then getting back in a warm truck. I do like the flannel lined jeans though. The only thing that really ever gets cold is your hands. Just get a bunch of different gloves. Dry them out on the dashboard in between stops.

Indeed i buy army surplus wool gloves and put them in wells lamont washable leather gloves, and when the salt and magnesium chloride hit the streets I use rubber gloves that the local propane drivers use and put the wool liners in,the wool keeps that nasty rubber glove funk smell away
wool will keep you warm when wet

I like the cold so I really just go out in a heavy short sleeve and cargo pants. Your cheater bar, let that ride in your cab, cold and metal DO NOT MIX. Also a spray can with anti-freeze or some ice melting stuff for the straps and chains. Sleeper cab? Two bunks? Drop the top bunk and put your tarps there. Crazy and a lot of work, yes, but their easier to work with.(Learned this before I oped in to pull curtain.) I keep anything that becomes hard to handle in cold weather in the cab. bungees and stuff of that nature.

A 2 piece snowmobile suit is much less bulky than Carharts, lighter in weight too. Years ago, I bought rubber boots with steel toes and sole insert plus a removable felt liner like a snowmobile boot. Still got a pair. Real handy when standing outside unloading TDI while hooked up to the air bottle. Got em all at Wally World.

I also carry a multi fuel back pack stove with a back pack pot and pan set, I was caught in a blizzard and spent 4 days snowed in. I had plenty of gear and the truck was able to run but having something to warm up water for coffee or anything else made it a good deal easier.
