I received a gift card as a CDL school graduation gift. I want to purchase steel toe and/or steel insert shoes or boots with my gift. Any suggestons? Please be as specific as possible, including a brand, style, store (whether online or brick-n-mortal store) and whatever other information you want to offer that will keep my feet safe and comfortable as I start my journey down this trucking road. Thanks in advance for your help. //Badgerdono

MOST BOOT STORES HAVE STEEL TOE BOOTS.

I really like the Timberland Pro Series Endurance 6". They are super comfy, but they just don't last long enough, and I hate shelling out $130 twice a year for boots. If you are a smaller guy, they will probably last longer.

Currently I have a pair of Georgia Boots, Georgia Giant is the style. They are a pretty basic boot, but are surprisingly comfortable, and so far seem to be wearing nicely. I think I paid around $80 because I had a coupon.

I have been real pleased with Wolverine Boots. The ones I mostly wear are not steel toed. I have a set of steel toed boots but only wear them where it is mandated.
The ones I wear are Gortex so my feet stay dry. I got mine from Tractor Supply.badgerdono Thanks this. -
You can buy steel toes just about anywhere that sells shoes. I've worn MANY different brands over the years. My experience is that you get what you pay for, for the most part. If you buy a $20 pair at Wal Mart, you're gonna hurt, but that doesn't mean that you need to go spend $300 on a pair either. I usually stay in the $80 to $120 range. That gives you a LOT of choices. I prefer something that doesn't take all day to lace up. I've had the Sketcher tennis shoes, I've had the slip on style with no laces, I've had the hiking boot style. It's mostly up to personal choice as to what style of shoe you like and how much you want to spend.
My biggest piece of advice is buy them in person! Steel toes fit a bit different than normal shoes. I have big feet, and just because the size is right, doesn't mean the steel toe isn't going to hurt my feet. You can look online to get ideas, but I'd suggest buying them in person. A couple of sites to look at for ideas would be basspro.com, academy.com, and gandermountain.com, to name a few.
Hope this helps.badgerdono Thanks this. -
I have been wearing Oakley Assault boots for a few years. These are SOOO comfortable. Remember, you wont be walking a lot, so $250 for a pair of boots that will last 5 years is not bad. Made in the USA. The guys with beards and civilian clothes at camp Pendleton all wear these boots.

Best place to shop is online at Zappos. Hands down. Great service, free shipping, free shipping on returns (no questions asked). Tons of choice. Take a look at Keen boots of various styles.

Red Wing steel toe boots (lace up). Pricey, but will last years. Made in the USA. Shoes made in China ? I'll pass.
CAXPT and badgerdono Thank this. -
I'd find out what your company requires. Personally, I cannot drive in steel toe boots.
