Only twice?! I'm practically on a first name basis with the fellas in breakdown -- and they do do a great job.. My only complaint is our recent trend away from T/A's (where they keep dead tires). This tire collection is from just my last 2 loads:
PS If your husband leaving you at fuel stops is accidental, you might consider adopting my trainer's system:
curtain open=codriver in store.
sleeper curtain closed= codriver inside truck probably sleeping

Not sure you know.... use chains and padlock to secure those tires. DOT may give you violation for not securing tires with chain.Last edited: Jul 6, 2012
double yellow Thanks this. -
I was told DOT-approved strap (has a colored stitch running along middle of it indicating load limit) or chain, but I'll definitely pick up some chain next opportunity just because of the abrassion factor with those steel tire belts. I just wish there was someplace better to store them (& load locks) -- my cat walk is now more of a bird perch and I am increasingly tempted to just trust that the trailer paperwork is in center-located registration boxes (which would also be a non-issue if they would always stick those boxes by the air connections).

Yes... these newer trucks - Cascadias - have small catwalk... I drove one that had a tire rack, pretty good... for one tire... But then had to make very sharp turn while backing and dented the rack.... So, shop removed....
This one now has a tire rack... so I moved the 5th wheel to a position where trailer will not dent rack regardless of my turn.... This is... until I have to move 5th wheel forward, if need to adjust weight.... BTW, one Covenant driver told me that we can return damaged tires at TA and get some sort of receipt that company will accept.... Really?? I never confirmed this with breakdown... but if that's true, it's great!
transportHER Thanks this. -
You guys have been very quiet lately... Hope you are doing well and busy.

WOW! That is just nuts... Leave for home time and the "Jack Up the Tires" GREMLINs go after the double yellow! Not good!!
We have been fortunate in that we have only had to plug a couple tires to date. I had to catch up on the posts. We learn EVERY time we read them. We continue to be thankful for this forum.
LOL!! Was kidding on that one, but that really is a great tip. Believe it or not, I have heard this from several drivers where they accidentally left their team partner at a truck stop. I guess when if one gets busy fueling, checking fluids etc., it would be pretty easy to just hop in and GO assuming the partner is there. Great tip!

Let's try this again.
Our Creator's Rainbow Covenant...
This was probably the most vibrant and perfect rainbow I have ever seen.
It is even more wonderful what the COVENANT represents.
Just had to put that out there. A promise to appreciate for sure!
SawJaw Thanks this. -

Yes, I am/was running my regular dedicated... But today arrived at Chatt for my "hometime" at a hotel. Have lots of important things to do. Will be in Chatt and going to Atlanta, Ga for some personal business. If you guys come by Chatt, let me know and maybe we can get together, ok?

Hey Rocks! I was wondering if you ever confirmed that we can return damaged tires at the TAs and get a receipt for Breakdown? I had heard this before. We just have not had this issue to deal with to date. Next time I speak with Breakdown, I'll ask just so we can have this as an option. Thank you both for the information about the chaining and the proper straps... We did not know this.
