Clamp on style lumber carrier

They make a clamp on lumber carrier? I would think that you should be able to fabricate one that attaches to the cross members.

 

I'm pretty sure Tarp Stop handles a belly box for flats, but I don't remember what brand or how it attaches.

 

Me and a friend made ours...pretty cheap, very simply and easily adjustable or removeable. Not sure how the whole PM thing works, but if you can PM me, I'll give ya a call or text pics or something.

 

First time posting pics....not sure how this will come out, but here goes.

Just use good tubing stock, not that thin walled stuff. Also, make sure you use grade 8 bolts. There are two bolts on each rack/bar, four total that hold everything. Make sure to use a buffer of sorts (I used old strapping) between the steel and aluminum. Also, this one was an experiment and I got greedy making the much larger than needed drop in the rack. I carry a full set of V-boards (made of 2X4's) and 10 4X4's on these racks with plenty of room left over for more. The other set my buddy made did not have the drop, just straight bars.....no welding required. Simple princicpal really, just sandwich the trailer flange. Hope these help.

 

At the time that I made this, I was still running Cali. Cali has this thing about securing your dunnage with two securement devices with a WLL rating. So, long story short, this is a very simple dunnage rack that will hold anything (occassionally I have a ladder in there as well) and everything is secured with two, two inch ratchet binders, so you don't have to worry about forward movement.
