Seems so easy. My belt sqeels when I step on gas. Not every time but more and more. I've removed A/C belt, still sqeels. Both other belt and tensioner are about 1 year old. Tensioner was moving some so I've got a new one. No change. Got some of that belt dressing thing, sprayed it seemed to do some good so I've replaced belt but it didnt do any good. Alternator is new and Its spining fine. It also runs water pump and radiator fan. I dont know how to check those. Or is it something different that just sounds like a spinning belt? It on Volvo with ISX. Any suggestions?
Belt sqeeling..or is it?

Sounds like your alternator could be hard charging often. Bad batteries can cause this as well as alternator failure. I see you have replaced the alternator. Have you had the batteries checked? Constant hard charging of the alternator to maintain the charge in bad batteries will overheat the alternator and cause belt squeal from the heavy load and the small pulley. The use of belt dressing will ruin a good belt and actually contribute to squealing.

Batteries were tested when I had alternator replaced. One thing about alternator. It always show 14.2-14.3 V .
-
14.2 V is perfect. Do you run your batteries low when you take your ten?
-
if the alternator belt is not tight enough, it will sqeel
-
if it has a spring loaded idler pulley it could be worn out ....they are a wear item and periodically need replacement to hold the proper belt tension
-
When you step on the "gas" pedal. Are you sure its a belt? If it does it all the time it could be a boost leak or an exhaust leak ahead of the turbo. They can also sound like a belt squeal.
Heavyd Thanks this. -
check manifold bolts cummins has problems with them breaking sounds just like belts squeeling

Well upon further inspection I've found 9/16 socket sitting on that block pan connection kinda leaning on balancer. Two day battle to remove it from there was won but not without the cost ( burns, scraches ). We'll see tomorrow if it 'll cure it. But the fact that it was doing it only when I step on the "gas" leaves me with uneasy filling. And no it wouldnt do it every time.

Maybe check wheel in turbo just to make sure it's not starting to rub
aiwiron Thanks this.
