Probably, if you're looking at it that way outside of van, Roehl would be the way to go if you were looking into flatbed, curtainside (not sure how their reefer division is), SNI for bulk/tanker
-
Reefer is a lot of northeast to Wisconsin and back. Plus the miles aren't the best for our reefer division. I love flatbed

I'll be starting with Roehl Phase 1 starting mon. Then on to Gary Aug 4th for flatbed securment. Worked for Schnider back in the early 90' but been out of it since about 98'

Go with Roehl over SNI.. Roehl is a great company to start out with. You can do 11/3 14/7 7/4, 7/3.. you can do 7/7 even.. hometime is big with them and you can usually count on them to get you home within 2 to 3 days of when they say they will. i suggest 14/7 so that will you still make your money and you have set off days. if you stick with them a year you will be at 36 cents a mile.. When i was with them I averaged 2,500 miles a week so they keep you rolling.. they have a great rating with the dot so you won't get pulled in often.. I only worked there 3 months straight out of school.. I only left because i got a local offer with pepsi, and i didnt like over the road very much. Overall a good company. If I stayed with them a full year i figured that i would have made between 38-40 grand. 2nd year you should have a chance to touch 45 grand..

ill also add that although making $38,000 doesnt sound great.. i have a buddy who has worked for 2 years at werner, he only made $28,000 his first year, and $32,000 his 2nd year.. He's sometimes gone for a month straight.. and after 2 years he's only at like 31 cents a mile.. so compared to others roehl pays decent

I am actually a Reefer driver for Roehl and i average 2700 to 3200 miles a week. So we get the mileage some weeks may be slow like after a major holiday we are always slow, but if we are to slow we pull Van loads and still make our reefer pay.. So it all works out in the long run...
DrtyDiesel and jeepnut_nh Thank this. -
Both sound good I guess, but if you're not making over 35-36cpm after a year... Start looking. You can actually be over .38-.40 after 18 months with some companies.
Starting out you should be at least looking at .30. When I started at sni after school I was at .31 and .32 after 3 months. -
excellent thread!
i also am struggling with where to start. just applied with sni and have not heard back yet, but i do have pre-hires from roehl, werner, usx.
i was thinking sni or roehl so drivers for both keep posting in here!

I applied to sni 6-6-2012 and had to make a follow up call 7-4-2012 to the recuiter.after that they moved quick. Both roehl and sni sound good. One difference is that sni has tanker training on the other hand roehl has newer trucks ( according to a prior feedback) and flexable home time options
jeepnut_nh Thanks this.
