The most alarming part of the OP was STRAIGHT LINE BACK into an empty spot and two trainees could not make it happen. None of us were experts at angle backing our first few months, but when I was in school if you couldn't straight line back to save your life after a few weeks our instructors would offer you the chance to leave the class while you could and cut your losses.

At least Covenant cut their speed back, man when I started driving in 2003 these guys (and US express too) really drove like rejects.

    airforcetoo Thanks this.

powder joints mention get out and help them so why did'nt you?I have seen guys and gals have trouble backing at truck stops customers and terminala.I'm more then happy to get out and lend a helping hand because I know sometimes I need help and theres a nice driver right there ready to help.I don't laugh or make fun of anybody who has trouble backing.I was once there and so was you.So next time you see someone having trouble, get your lazy ### out there and help rather then telling the world because frankly I see nothing amusing about your post.

I was there! And it was dam disgusting to watch 2 supposed men try and back in a simple spot at a truck stop.
I quickly jumped out of my chromed out brand new paid for peterbuilt. It was very windy, and my long flowing
chest hair was blowing in my face as I approached these 2 disgusting excuses for drivers.
I quickly dispatched my pimp hand across both drivers sissy faces, and told em to go make me a sandwich!
I jumped up in their truck, and punched the accelerator to the floor, cause thats how I drive, and put this poor
excuse of a truck in the hole, blindfolded, while making out with 2 chicks that were also models.
I don't wanna brag, but I do this kinda thing daily,as Im full of mother truvkin talent.
I have a sign on my trailer that says "If you can't see my mirrors,I can Still see you"And my mirors are filled
    with G.O.A.L. stickers.
Get out and laugh at everybody!!

Well Stevens does the same thing, I am sitting here in Amarillo at the J at Exit 76 and they have been in here with two trainees who just past the trainers truck 2 of them in the truck, I saw them come in and neither one of them looked older then 18 let alone being 21, I jumped out ad helped them get in a hole, they appreciated the help, They told me they were both new and that they boh watch after the other one, they are always in the jump seat switching out driving every other day!. IU think that isn't a bad way to go if you have to get in a truck with someone, I'd rather not go with a trainer and I didn't did I learn the hard way? Yes I had my issues in my first 6 months, I also had guys jump out and help me back it straight back into a spot, we need to tighten up the help mode out here, This world is way to small for us not to help our fellow Truck Brothers!. Just my 2 cents worth.

Heck, that pilot (and every other truck stop in the Denver area) is a cluster #### from hell at any time of day.

By the way...how would you slide your tandems all the way back if your DOT bumper is caught on something?? Did you mean slide them all the way forward?

Back it up till the wheels are at the concrete. Pull the pin. Slide tandems.

I don't know about anybody else, but I've had days when you would think I had never backed a truck in my life. If I can help I will, since it is nothing more than paying forward all the help I have received in the past and even the help I still receive. BTW Even if I don't really need help if someone jumps out to help me I accept their assistance and thank them. Sometimes it's not about my ego, but about their desire to light a candle rather than curse the darkness.
