Sorry to hear that...that's right just LEASE is what it is to RENT something in this case a truck for a period of time and that is a game I don't wanna play if for some reason I can get involved I will do it as a lease to own program which means I will be the owner of my truck at the end of the deal! period.

How I see it, as a trainer, my students are very hard on my truck, do you think I want to own a truck that has been a training truck with 400000+ miles on it after the lease is up? I don't. If you look at some of the other lease to own programs their weekly payments are about $200 more. After 3 years that comes out to about $31,000 more than the central lease. The last guy I talked to who thought about buying their truck had an 2010 prostar and central asked for $50k
My plan is to pocket the extra money thwn at the end of the lease turn my truck in and use the money as a down payment on a new/newer truck. If I decide to continue training I will probably release, because like I said students are very hard on the truck and I'm more than happy to pass those repairs on to someone elalse.

No as the others have pointed out, Central does not offer a lease to own program. At the end of your lease if you want to buy your truck, you pay full retail value. I'm guessing 30-60k depending on miles and condition. One nice thing with the lease is if you wind up not liking the truck you are not stuck with it, turn it back in and move on to something else.

To those saying your not an owner opporator I agree, I'm a lease opporator, I call myself an % because that is the department that services me. My ownership may not be of the truck (my name is not on the title) , but I own my business and the decisions I make, or dont make have much more effect on my income and sucess than they would as a company driver.
Leasing vs. Buying is a business decision, for me it made since, for you maybe not. But to say all I'm doing is making Centrals truck payment is wrong. Look at every large carrier most of their fleets are leased. Also look at some none trucking companies. Washington county leases all of their fleet cars, the plain dealer(local paper) leases all of their cars, intel for goodness sakes leases many of their machines, wal-mart does not own their point if sell terminals, would you say they don't own their company because they lease part or all of their equipment?

true if more companies did a lease to own deal with a nice buy out price and not a 50k buyout more people would be succesful i think but until then ill stick with burning company fuel and all that good stuff

Hey Moose can you explain yourself better?
It happens that I just talked with someone at central refrigerated they offer as a company driver with 6mo experience 30cpm solo and 35cpmteam. They have a LEASE ONLY program but I couldn't understand the lease conditions so.....there's a way to earn more just leasing a truck? I mean how much does it cost? sharing is caring right?

PSUMoose, I'm thinking about going to Central in Sept. I have my cdl just need to go thru their refresher. How are you liking the lease program there? Have there been any weeks you were broke down? Are you pulling in good checks, if you don't mind? All I hear about lease programs is to run far away.
    Thanks for any info.
Edit: Found some info about the lease waaaaay back on page 12. I just really wanted to hear someone's actual experience and not hearsay and all that.

I lease, I agree with moose 100%! It's not about who owns the truck, it's all about how you run your business. I've never hd a neg check and I average twice what a company driver does a week, after expenses. I have a 2012 Pete 386 and have been broke down 2 times for less than a day due to exhaust DPF and DEF issues. I am not a trainer and do not intend on becoming one. And about the lease or own thing, any business savvy person will tell you that leasing is where it's at. Drive it, use it and make that money then turn it in and get a new one before the warranty runs out. It has been my experience that the only real trouble these new trucks are having is with the exhaust emissions equipment, under warranty it's all covered out of warranty your ##### is gonna go broke. Just my two cents!!

    larry73 and DocWatson Thank this.
