There is a school in South West Ft. Worth. I've actually been through it twice because I got out of trucking for a few years. But, it's not the best school. Look into a local community collage better training.

My PAM trainer was a great guy and when I was training I did my best to teach the job and keep everyone safe. But, I have heard a few horror stories from students I got second hand (they had another trainer before I got them). So, don't let your trainer make you do anything illegal. Call in a tell someone about it.

Here's the thing, I really like the job PAM has me on now. I just hook in Irving, drive to Buda, drop and hook and drive back. It's really easy, I get about 440 miles a day and I'm home in my own bed every day. Also they're paying 30 cpm. Except for this problem with GM shutting down on holidays, I'd be happy as a clam.

Yep, but everyone that works of PAM longer than 12 months gets that. It's just that most guys think the grass is greener someplace else. PAM isn't a bad company to work for. If there's a problem with a trailer all you have to do is call road rescue and it gets fixed. If you need some time between loads to catch up on washing or shopping, just let them know and you have it.

I called a couple of other companies with yards around Irving and the best offer was 29 cpm and I had to unload the truck myself. I'm too old for that nonsense.

A few years ago I worked for one company that insisted I cheat my logs and wanted me to drive as much as 22 straight hours. PAM isn't the best trucking job I've had, but it's far from the worst.

Yeah, this job I'm doing pays a little less, but I'm home every day. For me it's worth a little lower pay.

I can say the grass was greener some where else. Pam wasn't horrible just to many employees to get things or questions answered. Good to hear it's working for ya. Not surprised they pay less for local work. I couldn't make it at that low pay.

The pay is lower, but the miles are consistent. I like knowing how much I'll be making from week to week. And I guess I just have modest needs.
