Finishing my time with Roehl in style, back to back loads with lumber tarps in 100* heat. Did get a performance and a safety bonus though.

They started loading the basketball floor onto my trailer at about 10:30 last night. Took a long time since it is a portable floor and has metal brackets sticking out the sides. Delicate forklift maneuvers required. Finally finished securing and tarping at 1:30am this morning. Thank goodness that place had a locker room with showers next to the loading dock. 85 degrees and 100% humidity in Wash DC at midnight makes for a lot of sweating. Passed out in one of the RFK stadium parking lots at 2:15 am then up at 0630 to start the drive to Rossvile, Georgia just across the Chattanooga, TN line. Made it the 611 miles to the consignee with 40 mins left on the 11 hr clock. And here I sit awaiting an 0800 unload appointment. I think there might some some serious sleep happening very soon.

But the cool news is that I got a preplan today already for the next load. Rome, Georgia to Salem, Oregon; total trip miles ~2,700. Pick up tomorrow (Wednesday) at noon and deliver Monday morning. Prior to this trip the furthest west I have driven in a tractor-trailer is Lincoln, Nebraska. Looking forward to the experience.
