Just finished CDL school Friday, July 13th. I have a pre-hire from Roehl and a couple of other companies. Roehl is top on my list, as long as they will have me. My dilemma is, van or flat? I'm just like everybody else. Want good miles and the ability to see my family at least every couple of weeks. I don't mind the work of flat, but just wondering about the time of year I am starting. After reading through a ton of these threads, I am afraid I will be going solo just as freight is slowing down. I mean, taking into consideration that there will be some time needed to become fairly efficient at strapping and tarpping. So any advice would be appreciated.
Also, I live in Nashville, TN. How is this area for Roehl freight? Seems they only offer National fleets in my area. Is this a fact? Will I be able to get home consistently? Do they have any drop yards in this area?
What type of Truck should I expect to get at this time? (Just curious about this one!)
Thanks!
Any Questions about Roehl??

Get a CB! They are great communication tools for road emergencies. Its always nice to know about a road hazard before you are upon it at 63MPH.
So funny!!! Laughed my butt off -
All the time going a lot slower than 63 and can't get stoped ,causing death and injury.
If that's your attitude on driving a big truck , I hope you find another type of job !
Be alert and informed, the life you save may be your own !!! -
63 is slow unless you need to stop NOW. CBs can be useful...they can be annoying...they can be dangerous. Depends how they are used, and by whom.

Pulling flats you pretty much need a cb for the steel places.

I just got my new fleet manager. So far, so good. He should be easy to break in...er...work with. Lol...but I know a guy who has a FM that doesn't seem to be a good match. Maybe its just a personality clash, I don't know...I suggested he ask for a different FM...is that unheard of? Everyone I have dealt with so far has been great. That makes my job so much easier.

Come on Childerscarl the sarcasim that he implied was funny because we go way slower than the posted speed limit so knowing where a speed trap is on a 70mph highway and all you can do is 63 thats whats funny. Dont take it so seriously. I cut and pasted what they said i dont know how to make a buble out of it. Alright
childerscarl1 Thanks this.
