Make sure your turbo is working, check your air intake filter and system, and make sure your exhaust is blowing free (a paper towel tied to a broom stick handle should reach and give a good indication).
If you don't notice serious deceleration at low speed (i.e. gears 1-4 pound your forehead against the steering wheel when you let up on the accelerator), I doubt the Jake is involved with the problem.dorlia2 Thanks this. -
I might be having the same problem with the EPG. Can you explain what do you mean by "a paper towel tied to a broom stick handle should reach and give a good indication" Thanks in advance

Tie a paper towel to a broom stick and hold it up to the top of the stack.

I got that part, but what am I looking for when I do that. Common sense says that the towel will be blown by the exhaust, but how would I tell if my EPG stays partially closed or not. BTW exhaust brake works when engaged, but my concern is IF the EPG plunger retracts all the way when not in use.

I had an 03 volvo with volvo engine...engine brake was stuck on in full position would not shutoff and truck would not run. It was a solenoid under valve cover that went bad?

Thats the Engine brake not Exhaust brake
