Ok, another update. I did the load repower. I now have a TMC step deck trailer. Cooool... Im pretty stoked about this trailer. Anyhow, I do the swap, hook to it, and drag it up the road. It didnt feel right. It took forever to get up to 60 mph, and just didnt feel right
I picked this up in Kennesaw, Ga. I pulled into the Pilot in Cartersville, Ga to scale it with Cat scale. Yep, Im overweight. Im in at 81,660. So I send a macro in letting them know whats going on, and to advise. The driver I got this from relied on the shippers scale, which read 79,340. I know my fuel tanks are full, but I aint carrying that much fuel!! So, somebody's gonna be in deep doo-doo. Glad it aint me! The load delivers in my neck of the woods, around Johnson City, Tn. Should be an easy haul. They just have to figure out the next move. I think Im cool with whatever. Oh, I washed my Dirty Skank, and drove it through the rain north of Atlanta. Figures. Thats why I call it the "Dirty Skank." No matter, I cant keep it clean.

Screw that. I have done everything. I will never leave flatbed. So you work hard. So what? Most of the flatbed drivers aren't lazy. Time at the shipper/receiver is much slower? Perhaps we may wait a little to get loaded. But we also don't have appointment times. (even though they are set up, 95% of shippers/receivers are FCFS) We can get there whenever possible. Get everything ready to load/unload while waiting in line. Unload/load is a snap... Never goes to elogs, or it would put them out of business? My company uses elogs, and we are prospering greatly, getting better every year. We received an across the board raise (drivers and office personnel) this year. Those d@mn elogs are killing us, eh? Another good thing about flatbed is the shippers/receivers usually have large lots, allowing for overnight parking. Nothing like starting your day with a full 11/14.

I picked flatbed so I don't become a lazy fat guy bumping docks. And I doubt there is any van job I could have gone to straight out of CDL school that pays what I'm making at TMC. More showers?? Flatbed or van I want a shower every day if at all possible! Anyone that doesnt is gross. As far as elogs...it wouldn't matter if they went to them. We are on paper but there is no cheating. They track us and will not accept cheating..

    Blind Dog Thanks this.

Altighty then, time for another update. So, the driver I got the step deck from had to drive to the truck stop to meet me. They wanted him to hookup to the trailer and weight it. He was also over weight. Now the cool part....when I scaled, my tractor was heavier then his, but with him scaled, the trailer was heavier on his ticket. Before you ask, we both had our 5th wheels all the way back. I think their cat scale was messed up. Anyhow, so he calls safety and they say to run with it as is. Im like well poop butter, I wanted that drop deck. Oh well. Another trailer swap, back to my old 96 inch wide steel wheeled trailer. If theres any van drivers or newbees reading this...when a van swaps trailers its called a drop and hook. Simple, 5 minutes. With a flatbed, you have to take all your securement stuff from one and put it in the other. Takes an easy hour. You'll get just as hot and sweaty swapping as you would securing and tarping.
Anyhow, swapped out, sent my empty macro in. Gotta bounce to

Birmingham to pick up some kinda steel load to take to Greenville,SC and Greensboro NC. The bounce said 138 miles. I followed TMC routing and it was 191.3 miles. Of course I sent a macro to my fm stating I need the mileage pay, as it was over 150 mile bounce. Lets see what happens with that.....hmmmmm.
Anyhow, Im gonna get this loaded, secured and tarped and bead back towards Atlanta. Ill stop at the closest shower to wash myself, then I dont care where I sleep. Oh....that Pilot at the 296 on I75 in Georgia is disgusting. The air wreaked of urine. When I was eating my breakfast this morning, the "professional" driver beside me opens his drivers door, stands in his doorway and whizzes in the parking lot. I said "hey driver, your professionalism is showing!!" Frickin peeing like that. At least climb your lazy butt down and water your trailer duals!!
