FWIW in the future when you pull out your licene or med card, hold your wallet in your hand and do not put it down or back in your pocket until the license/med/atm or credit card is back in place. I used to be terrible about losing my license and cards until I got in this habit.

I would agree with the FedEx or UPS overnight letter solution.

I would have a family member overnight it to you. USPS is only $15 and that's cheap compared to what it could cost you. Talk to the manager and the desk workers at the truck stop where it's being sent. Let them know what's going on. They will also have an idea what time the post office delivers to them each day.

Dont for a second think officer friendly won't hang your butt if you get caught without it.

    Big Don Thanks this.

thanks for the advice everyone. I have already booked a load heading back to Wisconsin(Toll road almost all the way) and I am swinging into the first open DMV center to pick up a replacement.

It is my understanding that the Supreme Court ruled you do not have to have your license on you to drive. You do have to have your medical. I could be wrong. I have two exwives.

since the national database we now have. i don't see why it's a big deal to be without anymore. give the cop your license number. he can see when it expires and your med card now linked to it.

you may be driving without a license on possesion but you still have a license to drive. as long as it's not expired.

i know before you used to get a ticket for not having it. but now there's a national database that all states can see your information.

Quit kidding yourselves.....Not having your CDL in your possession while driving commercially is a big violation.

It's a big enough violation that when, like an idiot, I left my license at a shipper my company would not let me drive without it. I ended up calling DMV and they Fedex'd me a temporary paper saying I could drive a CMV. However, I was not allowed to haul hazmat with it.

I tell you what, I'll NEVER make that mistake again.
