    Why?

The driver clearly knew it and should have been aware of it.

I've been told more than once by my company that there is a 30 day grace period to get the inspection up to date.

I may be wrong as I have just been told and have not researched myself, but my understanding is that if the trailer is registered in the state of Texas it must have a state of Texas inspection sticker.

Same thing with the ABS light, I was told that it is a violation if the dash light is on.

I have my doubts. Seen too many tickets issued close to the inspection expiration.

I didn't realize truckers get harassed/bullied by the state troopers. It sounds like some individuals just want to exercise their authority and throw their weight around. It doesn't matter what profession we are in, someone always wants to demonstrate he/she has authority. At my school it is the principal who has to bully teachers to demonstrate he has power.

FMCSA doesn't show any grace period. Not even on thanksgiving night when it happened. :biggrin_25520:

    396.17c provides in relevant part:

    (c) A motor carrier must not use a commercial motor vehicle, and an intermodal equipment provider must not tender equipment to a motor carrier for interchange, unless each component identified in appendix G of this subchapter has passed an inspection in accordance with the terms of this section at least once during the preceding 12 months and documentation of such inspection is on the vehicle.
