Guys, dont worry about getting sent home. When I went through I worried the whole time. Its not necessary. They are not gonna send a good guy, and good driver home. The ones that get sent home are the ones that deserve to be sent home. I understand your worry and your fear. Been there done that. The biggest thing about orientation is the head games, and they like it that way.

Thats what I was wondering about because my BP is usually on the high side at the doctors. I do have a 2 year DOT medical card but from what I understand I still have to pass "their" physical?

Any truth to TMC only hiring 'young guys', I had a CDL school representative(he runs the school) tell me that they don't. I'm 51, good health, clean mvr, starting school soon. thanks

TMC will hire you. You have to pass the physical and be able to lift the tarp. They do this tarp test where you pick it up and carry it around the trailer. Anyway There was a Swift recruiter that came and told us the same thing. It was a lie. I am 41.

Ok so update time from yours truly here! Guys after a lot of thought and prayer, I called it quits this week. I have a lot of things going on in my life right now. I can admit that I was extremely naive about trucking also. My family is more important to me then any thing in this world. I will be getting married in September but not only that my parents are not getting any younger. My mom's heart is getting weaker and my Dad has finally been honest with me that he is worried for her. I think it is more important for me to be near my family not knowing how much longer I have with them. I know this may all sound like excuses so forgive me if they do. I can be honest and admit that trucking was not for me. I have repeatedly on here talked about how hard it is to leave home on a Sunday. This was something I wanted to do since I was a kid. My dad has battle cancer twice and won both times. I listened to him talk about wishing he had done something different with his life when he had the chance. I do not want any regrets in my life so I went for it. I now know that trucking is not for me. I don't have to spend the rest of my life wondering anymore. I have decided to go back to the Police Department. I have done that for thirteen years and I am good at it. If any of you have a lay over here in the Charlotte area please post and let me know. I would still love to meet my friends face to face. I will still be a part of the forums and watch closely to see if Blind's new FM is any good. Good luck to all of you and God bless.

They hired me at 50 yrs. Just make sure you know that there is (IMO) a big difference between dry van and flatbed.
