    Alright W/S drivers,

First off, I've been book reading manuals, trying to comprehend the application of Hours of Service rules, but absolutely 0 practical knowledge or experience (of course) running effectively under those rules.

So.........understaning all the possible variables that would be in play, when the work is there to run & though decent use of dispatch, route planning, and use of driving and sleeper berth/off duty time to maximize the 14-hours on duty................

just how many times each driving month, can you expect to run up against the 34-hour reset?; would 3 times be a predictable number to expect utilizing the 70/8 day schedule that I assume Watkins Sheppard runs under?

Also, I highly anticipate living near Billings, MT. Is 11 Western state runs, or regional driving something that newb's can get right into........or is that request unreasonable, or for only seasoned drivers? Understand that these recruiters don't blow alot of smoke, but want to see how drivers know the situation.

    Thanks drivers,

    Take it easy out there!

PS: been too #### quiet on this board

W/S doesn't run regional...it's either local/shorthaul or Long Haul. You can't predict having to take a 34, too many variables.

2021dream: I take a 34 whenever I can fit one in. usually about once a week. I like to squeeze them in over a weekend, but like Axe said: its variable. You'll get a better feel for that stuff once you're out there. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

yard dawg: you get 1 day home time for every 6 you're out.. I stayed out 54 days earlier this spring; so I then had 9 days hometime coming to me. I only took 5 though.. but you get the idea.

I really like what I read about WS... My question, for someone who has never been inside of a rig, between the school they recommend and orientation... do you think it is the way to go?

I'd never driven a rig. Or anything bigger than a F350. Worked for me, too! But unlike the guys AT listed, I hated vans.. so switched to flatbed. And I've been enjoying that, though some days are pretty tough.
