In 2001 Fedex Corp bought American Freight Ways along with Viking Freight to creat what is now Fedex Freight. (Not Fedex Express)
"Federal Express" was founded by Fred Smith in 1971. (This IS the original Fedex Express.) Is is now just another division under the Fedex Corp umbrella.
What is FedEx Express ?

Well said, envayne. I was just going to add that the CDL swing driver means a Class C CDL with the HAZMAT endorsement. In 2 weeks I will be a swing driver at WWAA which I am looking forward to. I was on a part-time route for 2 years in Wasilla, AK then a full time route for 3 years in Palmer, AK....I need a change of scenery. I get a free endorsement, $1.00 raise and don't have to see the same customers every day.

Right on brother. I had my own route for 3.5 years and got bored to death. Same places same people. For me though going swing was too much. I did well, i stayed swing for about 4-5 years. My station has roughly 100 routes separated by 4 workgroups. At the time, i only had to stay in my workgroup and not the whole station. Even then, thats alot of routes to bounce between and learn them all. Toward the end things changed and i would have to be available to the whole station. I had enough stress at home, i didnt need alot more added stress at work. Almost every route had alot of businesses and its real frustrating and time consuming trying to find out where to deliver the package and who to deliver to (lot of places are really emotionally picky about this). I did not enjoy having to deal with that all day everyday, plus having to look up stress all day in the map book, dealing with traffic etc etc etc "etc"...So, change of scenery, yes, new people to see, yes, over all worth it to me?, no. Luckily I was able down bid and got a 4/10 float route. Work only 4 days, only do the 'same' 4 routes every week.
Have you delivered packages using a snowmobile yet? They showed us a video of that once. -
Yeah I see the Fedex Express package cars all over town. But what about the FedEx Express tractor trailers? I see those in town too and going down the interstates in East Texas. They're all older freightliner day cabs with some being cabovers. How do you get THAT job? I've never seen an open position for FedEx Express truck driver..
