I have a 2000 Pete 379 and having trouble with the dash lights. The lights in all the gauges work but the lights above the switches dont work. Im thinking there must be some place that supplies the power for the gauge and switch lights but not sure where to look.

the sleeper light doesnt work either and I looked for the fuse but couldnt find it. Any help with either of these problems would be helpful......thanks in advance

Wires are shorted. Take it by a shop and have them check the wiring. Mexicans are known to put screw's in the wire clusters. My truck was made in Mexico, spent 6 weeks at a dealer having wire work done.

The lights for the switches comes from one light bulb inside a doo-dad that has a fiber optic-ish strip that runs up to each set of switches. If you pull off the section of dash that has all the switches there should be a dusty gray round device about the size of a can of chew. Replace the light bulb in it with a new one and you should be good to go.

Sorry, I don't have the proper terminology, but once you take it apart you'll smell what I'm steppin in.

Because of that fiber optic-ish strip illumination design those switches are barely seen at night even if the bulb working. I have 98' 379 and it is same thing...Just try to memorize positions of the swithes..

Q-tips and windex works wonders on the labels. They still aren't as bright as I'd like, but it helps to clear it up considerably.

I looked for the doo dad and couldn't find it. Is it attached to the back of the panel? Still no luck on finding the fuse for the sleeper light. Does anyone know where that is?

The doo-dad in my 98 pete looks like a thingy with a single thick wire going in one end, and a bunch of wires coming out of the other. Those 'wires' go to the switch labels, and are actually fiber optic light pipes. Follow the 'wires' down to where they join (should be floating out in the open and not attached to anything) and that's where the bulb will be. I'd send you a picture, but don't feel like taking the dash panel off.
