All good things must ... Hometime is over. Got to head back.

My son & I did manage to pass our Hazmat eams while home, so once the background checks are done we should get some nice runs.

Craig, you and Anne have your hazmats. How often do you carry Hazmat loads?

Not too often really. About one in every 5 or so FedEx loads actually have Hazmat on them (Placarded) but you have to have hazmat to run FedEx......you are going to LOVE FedEx. Sweet, easy money. Always drop and hook (well, we have had one live unload in 19 months) routed at 50mph and you can deliver as early as you can get there, I think we have done two hazmat loads that were not FedEx.

The big thing though is you get the .04 cents a mile on all loads, not just hazmat. Big difference in the paycheck. Teams that do not have hazmat are crazy, Costing you about $400 each driver a month if you do not have hazmat. Kinda makes it worth the $100 investment for the background check.

I agree Fedex is great. Hazmat also means you can take any load. You do not have to wait for a non-hazmat load. We have about 1 in 15 loads that are actually hazmat. Fedex is the best deal going so far.

My response: "Too bad load canceled. Would have made my week."

    DT: Dldblp! "113" Pre Assign

Dlddlp! "129" "Do this instead. Open ended delivery. They'll take it ASAP."

    What the.......

Picks up Wed 1000......Live load......513 miles, D&H. I appreciate the effort of my FM, but it ain't gonna happen for this weeks pay settlement.:biggrin_25512:

Love this thread... I go to Shippensburg Saturday and road test Sunday then I am off and running finally for a truck company. Looking forward to this, I was going team but my lovely bride cannot seem to pass the test... she keeps making odd mistakes. We will see if that ever happens but for now it's just me and probably will be solo. :yes2557:

True but she is not one to just fill a seat... she likes to be in control. She'd give me a stroke more than likely.... :biggrin_25519:

    Hey Wedge and everybody,
Sorry I have not posted in a while been busy with School and the family. I graduated Trucking School today. So I am putting in a app. at U.S. Xpress and Arnold, and a few others. I already have a pre hire with Werner but I am weighing my options. Any advice you have Wedge would be much appreciated. Thanks.

PLEASE!!!!! DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER WERNER!

I worked for them for just 2 short months. Screwed at every turn. Pay was lousy (.27cpm loaded and .15cpm empty) Do the math on this. You won't make squat at Werner.

The Driver Managers are absolute Jerks for use of a better word.

Go with USX, much better company and much better pay.

    Just my 2 cents worth.
