Umm....why is there a need for an autopsy? By the article's description, I'm assuming that there was probably a tire/wheel combination where the guy's head used to be.
Call me crazy, but I think we've got the cause of death here, Quincy. -
This is a big story here in Milwaukee. They still haven't found the driver of the truck. I believe the driver knows who he or she is, because this happened during rush hour, and I'm sure other motorists were honking their horns at the truck, not to mention other truckers probably were warning the driver that his wheel came off. The cops are looking at a video of the accident, but it is hard to see the truck since it was dark out.

They had the traffic stopped for 4 hours
What a mess
Maybe the autopsy will tell? LOL
Its amazing to me that they need that long to get the roads back open? -
You Can Lose A Wheel And Not Know
OAK CREEK - The freakish Thursday night accident that claimed the life of prominent doctor Krishna Nemi, was the talk of the Flying J truck stop Friday night. Truckers say it is entirely possible to lose a wheel without knowing it.
"Is it possible to lose a wheel off the back of your truck and not know it?" trucker Ted Smith said, repeating the question. "For sure it is."
Edward Williams is taking a load through Wisconsin on his way to Dallas. While he allows that unknowingly losing a tire is possible, he says it's unlikely.
"The majority of the time it is very rare," the barrel-chested trucker said, "because you usually get vibrations."
But trucker Ed Lehman points out something that happened to a colleague. "One of my good friends on a ready mix truck lost his whole wheel," Lehman said indicating the wheel with a wave of his hand. "Came right off and went into a cemetery. He never knew it."
Whether the driver knew he lost his wheel on I-43 Thursday night or not, Milwaukee County Sheriff's investigators know that trucker could be most anywhere now.

Wouldn't he/she know by now since it is "big news" that he/she went through that city/state around that time and needed a "new tire" and it could of been them and would be nice of them to say it could of been me, but not sure & I feel really bad. It sure looks worse saying I know it never happened when you know you need a "New" tire.
I think to many drivers are relying on their pre-trips, when they should be relying on their post-trips. Their pre-trips they are ready to rock and roll and not thinking about inspecting their trucks/trailers. They want to get moving!
Drivers regardless you need to be inspecting your equipment, you always have to keep in mind "who did I tick off, without even realizing I ticked them off" todays world, it takes a simple smile to tick someone off. Before you get behind that truck check it out! When you stop driving for the day, INSPECT that truck/trailer very thoroughly so you have ample time to get the repaires needed done, without interrupting your time
.
Good luck all and PLEASE be SAFE, from the BOTTOM of my HEART!

New Developments In I-43 Tire Fatal Accident
11/13/07
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke held a press conference Tuesday afternoon to discuss new developments in the fatal accident that killed Dr. Krishna Neni last Thursday.
A tire flew off a truck and smashed through the windshield of Dr. Neni's car, killing him. It happened on I-43 at Silver Spring. The tire fell off a south bound semi and hit a car going north. The driver of the truck that lost the tire did not stop.
In the press conference, Clarke said the truck that lost its tire on I-43 has been identified, as has the driver of that truck.

Clarke said they were able to identify the semi based on tips from the public, media reports, and video from the Department of Transportation freeway camera that was enhanced with the help of the media.
Clarke said the Department of Transportation camera showed three semis passing through the area at the time of the accident which were all identified as possibilities.
Clarke said Saturday, the owner of a trucking company called Holmes Quick & Safe Transport out of Port Huron, Michigan called detectives and said a truck that had passed through the area was now missing a wheel. The truck was impounded at the Milwaukee County Sheriffs Department request.
Clarke said the truck belongs to CKC Trucking out of Macomb, Michigan, which is about 25 miles from Port Huron. The truck is a 1988 Frontliner and is grey. The rim of the tire is still attached to the axel on the drivers side.
Clarke said the driver of the truck has been identified. He is a 66-year-old man from North Street, Michigan. He told detectives he did not realize he had lost the tire until he stopped for gas in Indiana. The man has had his commercial drivers license for 33 years and has numerous speed violations, according to Clarke.
The Sheriff's Department is looking into whether there was misconduct by the driver or the trucking company. The driver told investigators after this tragedy, he is giving up driving trucks.
Clarke said Dr. Nenis family has been notified of these latest developments, and this remains an ongoing investigation.
Clarke said once the investigation is complete, the information will be handed over to the district attorneys office for review.

That's the same thing that happened about 3 weeks ago in Shelbyville, IN. A drivers wheel came off and killed a cop. Why? I don't understand as many drivers says if he did a pre-trip inspection he would have caught the issue before getting behind the wheel?.
I don't know as I am not a driver, however I hear many different stories as to what can happen and what does happen?
I think the driver knows he/she is at fault and that driver should admit to it, however I can see he/she won't because he/she has a family and kids and wasn't thinking about "safety" first! Had he/she thought about safety first he "might' not be in the situation he/she is in right now!
