I have seen a few Pete/KW trucks in the mid $120's for left over 2012's on truck paper stateside. Not sure what sort of freight you are moving & not even sure this is fact, but remember reading that the 86" studio sleepers were heavy. If weight is a issue...
So finding a ISX powered 72" middle of the road T660/386 may not be too tough to pull off.

    Elroythekid Thanks this.

There is a red 670 in Truro loaded up only $105 If I remember right. Bunk is too small tho. I know where there is a mint 07 w900 750kms on it c15 and 355's. I love it but the fuel mileage would suck. Not sure what I'm going to do??? I fortunately don't HAVE to do anything, I don't like my 387 and it's been a bit of a $$$ pig but it's mine and I don't have to do anything. So time will tell. I may just order a 780 and get it exactly the way I want. Or wait and see what's up with importing a glider, I won't pay 130for a glider that's for sure.

Not trying to be a jerk, but you're only going to get a Freightliner w/ a Detroit for $110K. If you like Freightliners with Detroits, that's a good thing. But if you want a Peterbilt with a CAT, you'll need about $50K more for a "hard spec'd" chassis if you're starting out without an engine/trans core. In my case, late this year I'll be special ordering a loaded 389 with an ISX for about $15K less than an identically spec'd glider with a 6NZ. I'm not concerned with emissions engines, as my '09 ISX has been very reliable, so I'm not as gun shy as others are.

Another couple realistic reasons why your prices were different. One is that the truck on the ground may have been ordered when business was good and the factories were able to have a back log. At that point, pricing would have been normal. When they see a slow down, they will give dealer incentives on multiple truck order purchases for stock. Another reason is how often the pricing on the trucks change. I see $1,000 or $2,000 changes within a few months pretty frequently. You would be surprised at the variability of tire pricing. It can be massive. A dealer may also be prepared to give a stock truck away at cost or very close to it, where they're not going to order a truck for you at cost, we are in this to make money and stay in business to service you

The cost difference was the salesman quoting off the top of his head then hoping I wouldn't notice or care as long as the payment was in my wheelhouse in the end. The truck wasn't exactly what I wanted any way so just as well. So... Not sure what I'm going to do now.
