ok how are you planning to do your ace manifests?
-
Yes , you DO need a Canadian broker . You must fax a copy of the BOL with a PARS barcode label attached and a Canadian Customs Invoice to the Canadian broker sevral hours before you cross the border . The paperwork has to be approved before the Canadian Customs officer scans the barcode.Hanadarko Thanks this.
-
The importer (usually) provides the Customs Broker (not a freight broker and NOT related).
-
Ralph is right the shipper provides the broker for going back to the states just like bringing a load to canada the shipper gives you all the customs paperwork you need to cross with. But you will have to look into getting the software to do up ACE's they are extremely easy to do your self takes 3mins at most once you get good at it you will need one to get back to the states loaded or empty.
Another thing to look into is vehicle registration i know on my truck registration it lists every province and state we go to with the max weight we can carry, and your insurance company may like to know if your leaving the country as well. -
I have all of the provinces on my IRP and my insurance company is AOK with transport in/out of Canada.
That part I am good with- -
I've been contemplating runnin Ontario as well. Where I live I can make a trip up and grab a loa back and make almost twice as much runnin just US freight.
