Yeah, why take a pay cut from the unemployment and work for SNI, Werner, CR, May, etc.......
-
So is the article saying that most people don't qualify for a CDL or cannot get hired due to background issues, such as tickets, DUI's, or felonies?
I can see that. Anything you do these days tends to shadow you for years to come. I am not sure if this is a good or a bad thing. -
This paragraph in the article stands out for me.
Rather than spend that money on additional recruiters and advertising, why not give the drivers a wage that properly compensates them for the time they spend away from home in that walk in closet? That, and better treatment/utilization of the driver and his time, would probably go a long way in improving driver retention (and hiring ability).
But I'm beating a dead horse here. Most of us experienced folks know this.Jimmy Hoffa Thanks this. -
At least they created some recruiting jobs.
They must not need drivers all that bad. -
Werner President trying to put a different spin on what is really happened in this industry. Of course, when your company receives 10k for every new recruit you hire through the "jobs training" program through the federal government, they don't really care too much about the revolving door. That is until recently because now through the plethora of information being populated on the www via disgruntled drivers who have been raped and abused by the big players in this industry, the recruit mills have slowed because thousands are saying "hell no, I'm not going into that industry as a career."
That's why the article I submitted is headlined:
