But once again my boss lets me call the time of delivery, I make sure my schedule is good and keep the door closed since permit loads are time sensitive moves. -

LOL abuse me all you want, I pick my loads and times brother. I do run legal and even have the scales give me that a boys for a clean log, loose leaf at that.
I could not run outlaw if I wanted, most of my loads are all permits so sunrise to sunset only. Max miles I drive in one day even legal is 600- 650 miles. -

Yes #### happens and elogs can suck when it does but this is how I have dealt with it. I get held up at the shipper or road is closed or whatever, well reschedule the apt or find a truck to repower it, you guys wanted the elogs not me so now its your problem to deal with it not mine. Want me to go pick a live load up near NYC at 7pm with only 2 hrs left on my 14, nope not gonna happen, get me something to pick up in the morning. Run 620 miles in one day for a live unload at a grocery warehouse at the end, nope not on elogs unless I know there is overnight parking. They asked for elogs so now they have to plan and dispatch better, its thier problem not mine. My miles and paycheck have not suffered at all for it because when it comes down to it, they know this is what they asked for, this is what the big companies want. Doesn't really matter much to me, I just drive til I'm outta hours, take a 10 then drive some more, I simply don't have to try and "make it work" when #### goes wrong anymore so less stress for me.
Of course this gets to the real point of elogs and that is to hurt the smaller players. The big boys like Swift, SNI, CRE Werner and so on probably have a truck somewhere nearby that can save the load if needed so its so big deal to them, smaller companies that do not have that option and will be hurt by elogs. As shipper notice the smaller companies can not be on time no matter what like they used to (if/when elogs are mandated) they will turn to the big mega carriers and that is what is intended.
