I have a 21 year old that has recently received his Class A CDL Tanker Hazmat endorsement from Amarillo College. We Live in Amarillo Texas oil field country but he cannot get any type of truck driving job because he has no experience. I am thinking about sending him to a trucking company that offers training for student drivers. I need advice on which companies are reputable. I have read some hooror stories on a few but really don't trust the stuff on the net. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would say for your son to sit down and write out what he wants out of a trucking company, home time, work area, pay/benefits, stuff like that. then they will have a better idea what to look for before they start talking to recruiters. As for what companies are good/bad to start with, it's dealers choice in that area everybody has an opinion. But I believe if you do your research and find the company that best fits your situation you will be much happier than just picking one. Good luck.

Thanks for the info we have a pretty good idea of what he wants. I would still like to hear a few opinions from people who have had experiences ether good or bad.

I started out with an Over The Road company. I was home every weekend. Once I got six months OTR experience, I was able to find a local position.
