Trucking with a masters degree??

I have filled out a few applications for my BF recently and the only thing they asked about education was whether or not he had a High School Diploma, at least most of them. I wouldn't lie on an application, but you don't have to volunteer anything they didn't ask about.

I am a 15 year computer programmer working jobs that pay $75k per year and I got hired. Seems like everyone at my job knows about it too so I am respected highly by my coworkers even my boss since they know I do this job because I love it.

 

Hey now, when I started trucking they told me I would make all kinds of money.... and dats de troof. Over the years I've made pennies an nickles an dimes an quarters. I've earned Loonies and Twoonies an once a whole Cuban dollar.

Onny trubble is there's always at least two people holding out they hand for em.

 

The one thing I can tell you from personal experience, is my "college" studies have helped me in the book sections of my training at NTTS. You know how to study and how to retain what you're being shown, better usually than someone that doesn't have any college experience.
The recruiters that have come to school from what we have gathered as a class, are looking for the top students. So anyone that doesn't pull an 90 average will have a harder time getting into the company they want. Best of luck and I hope this helped

 

I think a degree gives you an advantage I have one myself from one of the top universities in the country. Depending on what it's in it can give you an edge in negotiating as well as running your own truck. I work for one of the bottom feeders, but I learned to negotiate really well in college and it's helped immensely.

I can say that with the negotiating I drive a really nice truck that I take care of as if it's my own, I make just as much money as experienced drivers, and get to decide what and where to a point as far as what I want to do.

That's where I carry myself well and can bypass my driver manager normally and go straight to a CSR or Planner as well.

Also if you decide driving isn't your thing you have something to fall back on and it's pretty easy to get hired in the office with a degree while looking for a different job or something.

I love driving and it's not the degree that matters it's that you enjoy what you do.
