Im looking to get into trucking im 42 now downisizing has hit me twice after long career in same bussiness...Ive had several companies say they'd take me provide all training. I felt Schnider trucking would be best. My driving recored for last 15 yrs has been good. However like a lot of stupid things we do in our youth. Mine was unpaid speeding tickets. in the late 80's between ages 19 to 21 I had long forgot those unpaid tix actually 3 of them in different states . well in 1993 with computers it all caught up to me...I was pulled over told i had a suspended ohio liscence Indiana license and my south carolinia liscence becuase the officer says i didnt pay tickets. I know unreal yes . It would have been easier to have had a dui...It took me quite sometime to get it all straightened out to say least. But i did and moved on with my life. I was excited to hear id passed the prelimanary aplication with Schnider. Then in course of conversation they say they do a lifetime check. And my 3 suspended liscences would disqualify me. I understand rules are rules. the other companies never mentioned a lifetime check...i was young and stupid yes..My question is will this stupid thing i did in my youth keep me from ever getting into a good company. I never had dui never been a criminal just stupid as kid...please let me know...thanx

I had three suspensions back in the 90s. Two for no insurance and one for an unpaid speeding ticket. I was hired on by PAM with no issues. So the answer to your question is no, it won't keep you from getting into the industry.

Driver suspensions for unpaid tickets will not disqualify to get a class A
But Schneider may have your own rules
I think Schneider will hire you with a DWI if over fire years old
So ancient suspensions shouldn't be any different -
It depends on the offence. DWI might kick ya in the jimmie. Other then that, anything else should be ok that far back.

To the best of my knowledge, the statute of limitations is 5 years on misdemeanor traffic violations. I can understand the unpaid tickets coming up in 93, which you said you were convicted of in the late 80s. Its been less than 5 years, so yes, it showed up because the statute of limitations had not yet run out. So long as you have no alcohol-related offenses on your driving record, you should be OK. How many years does your state go back in keeping driving records? In varies from state to state. Im in California and they only go back 10 years max (or so I was told).

As old as these are, you'll have no problems at all.
I got 13 moving violations in 1989. Suspended for a year in 91. These don't show up on any background check at all. Been clean since then LOL
As long as everything has been paid, and you have no outstandings. I wouldn't worry about it, nor would I mention it since they were that old.
ANY company that states they go back further than 7 years, aren't worth speaking too. A simple BGC only goes back 3 years. -
Have you Talked to your guidance counselor for advice on this? I would think he or she would be the best place to get an answer for this.
