    Hey guys,

I know there are several threads regarding a/c issues in here, but I can't seem to find any that match my description of symptoms.
My A/C had been working fine for the past 2 years and then it starting blowing hot air. I went through the system and found a leak on the front seal of the compressor and at the expansion valve. I replaced compressor, expansion valve, evaporator, and the rec/drier, along with all the necessary o-rings. Flushed the system, supplied nitrogen to the system and no leaks were detected. Then I pulled a vacuum on the system for 1 hour, disconnected vacuum pump, and waited 1 hour. System held vacuum with no problem. So I recharged system with proper oil and R134 amounts. System low and high pressure sides read good (LP= 28-43 and HP= 175-250 on a 96 deg. day). Now the problem is warm to hot air is blowing out the vents. The high pressure line is hot, the low pressure line is warm, the rec/drier is warm, and the evaporator is warm. What could be causing this??? Any suggestions would be great....

    Thanks in advance,

    Nick

Have you tried blocking coolant flow through the heater core?
A restricted high pressure hose could cause these symptoms and still show normal gage readings.

No, I have not tried that......Would that isolate the problem or is that a possible solution? Block it during summer months and release when it gets cold?

    Thanks,

In this case to isolate the problem by eliminating blend door/water valve malfunction as a contributing cause, although manual coolant shutoff valves are commonly installed for better AC performance during summer months. For now you can temporarily pinch the hoses shut for testing purposes. The high heat with normal gage readings and the sudden high side leaks is telling me you have a restriction on the high side causing the heat and the leaks. The compressor is building high side pressure that you are not seeing at the gage port because the restriction is before the port.

I was thinking it couldn't be the blend door due to the fact that the sleeper air blows hot air also and it has its on expansion valve that is fed off the same line going to the cab's expansion valve. Nevertheless, I would think the problem is where you are saying, which is a restricted high pressure line since it affects both the cab and sleeper units.

Thanks for your suggestions, keep it coming.....

I am relatively confident that you will find a high side restriction between the compressor and the high side gage port but it would be wrong to ignore the heater core possibility because it's so simple to eliminate with clamps. Hoses can leak and they can swell and deteriorate on the inside causing an "anal fissure" (blockage)=Heat
