We don't do enough work in NC/SC to have company drivers down there. Hopefully, you are able to get things straightened out with TMC or find a better match for you.

well blind, heres my take on things. Now i havnt read all the posts, but think I have a real good idea about it all, so if i mention something that may have been said prior i appologize. 1st, during orientation they asked you for a parking spot location. I presume they approved so that meens yes, you can go home loaded. 2. I know most guys dont like to use this option, but learn split logging! once you are decent with it youll love the options it can bring to "move" your time around to your benefit. Detention times bite i know, but you can use that to your advantage at times( this is when split logging can work great). Now for that 4.5 hr issue with being late vs staying at the shipper. I prob would have stayed (if that was ok with shipper). yeah, no shower or hot food that night ( but more hrs to sleep), but im sure ya had something decent to eat (i hope) in the truck-canned food/soup? If ya REALLY need hot food, take said canned food and place it on the turbo (truck off/ warm though). It will warm that can up rather quickly.. Always presume you wont get to stop for food, carry a good amout that would last the week (just in case). Now, if you are going to be late eaither by staying or going and ya call the FM and they chew ya out-stop them fast! Explain why (detained, will run out of hrs, couldnt park there/had to move, ect) Dont ever mention the shower issue-its (sadly) a luxury and they wont care at all. However, if its a sleep issue then they can suck it up.
In my opinion, it sounds like the FM isnt that good, and id personaly fire them-If the team leader isnt helping eaither, you need to go higher and talk with them. I think before ya quit its atleast worth a shot.

trust me bro, I know what your going through. I was ready to quit MANY times. For me i feel my FM was messin with me (for reasons i dont want to say due to remain unknown). However, I got a new one and right away Ive seen a change. better planing of loads, closer, less bounce, and (what i feel) a better use of my time-

he was told a while back that it won't come fast or easy, & u have to pay ur dues. he thinks he's paid his dues by serving in the military. i thank him for serving, he may have paid his dues to his country but this is trucking, TOTALLY DIFFERENT. u being the new guy will pay ur dues like all the rest, u won't get the great loads @ first or all the time & u will stay out until u learn how to do things. 4-5 months driving is nothing. consider urself lucky, like my dad told me about uncle sam, SIR, YES SIR!!!! u will have to do that quite a bit until u get what u want. u have to take the bad with the good. just sayin

Well, Im not willing to "pay dues." Im not willing to live like an animal in a cage, eat garbage food, not shower, whatever. If y'all are willing to live like that, more power to you. Ive got a real nice house, with a real bed, real shower, real food. And yes, you better believe Ive paid my dues. Ive been through things you cant even imagine!! So I ask why? Why should I put myself, and my family thru this kind of grief and garbage? Why? So I can be a " truck driver?" Pshhhh. No thank you. This is not for me, Im not willing to try anymore. If anybody thinks Im weak, or soft, ot whatever...I really dont care what you think. Im gonna deliver this load, then Im gonna deliver my notice! Im so done!!

To any wanna be drivers, you need to realize that while your out on the road, your wife at home has to take care of EVERYTHING! My wife's car needs brake work, Im a certified master technician and I cant even fix her car because Im never home! Stop and think that everything that you do around the house will now fall on her shoulders. Hometime? Re-read this entire thread.

You miss the point completely. At TMC you go home under a load and never empty unless you are going on vacation. They promise from day 1 you are home 46 out of 52 weekends a year. Blind has been home 4 times in four months. To tell someone they will not get a shower and have to deal with the crap he has dealt with and I dealt with is ludicrous. If this is your trucking industry then you can keep it.

blind its not all that bad everywhere, take for example myself, i saw in week one with my trainer at TMC that hometime would be few and far between, i asked my trainer and he was very honest with me so I helped him out for a week and ran like teams on the down-low so he could make a little cash and i could get closer to home. once i got home i got a kick ### local driving job. Im home every night only run Sat or Sun unless i ask to for xtra cash typical day i leave around 4am back home around 1130am then chill out till around 4 and then go get my load for next day loaded takes about 1.5 hrs, keep truck and load at home. clear about 825.00 a week. so stay possitive and look around when you get home..
