Dead Radio, time for a new one

That brings back memories. Let me guess..... you got a Volvo VNL? I had a similiar problem.... The only difference was, I didn't hook it up backwards. I changed the fuse 10+ before I got pissed, and bought a cheap cord at a truck stop, that plugs into my cig lighter. It was designed for a CB, just not for mine, so I spliced the wires together, and NEVER, not ONCE, had that problem since then.
So I would suggest doing that..... find a cord like that, and splice the wires. I think it is a default with some of the Volvo's.

Oh.... and I also bought one of those cig lighter thingys that make two cig lighters out of one, to make up for the one I used for the CB. If you do that.... learn from my mistake. I bought the ones' that had the wires the first time, and it sucked..... So I bought one of the hard shelled plastic ones, the next time, and it worked perfect. I don't know exactly what they are called, but you probably already have one anyway, and if not I'm sure you know what I am talking about.... and if not.... just look in a truck stop, and you'll know what I am talking about when you see it.

 

OK guys, there is just silly untrue stuff here. A radio that transmits more then 1/2 mile is not illegal. LOL A radio that transmits over 4 watts PEP is illegal. There is a stupid law that says you can't knowingly operate over something like 20 miles, but its not, and never will be enforced as if it existed. Import radios are NOT illegal. They are illegal to use illegally however. Both of these last rules are operator laws, not equipment. You can own import stuff. If you do, and want to be legal, just make sure its turned under 4 watts PEP and you stay on channels 1-40. But..... They sell these for a reason, to brake the law. And thats for yourselves to say if thats right or wrong. I am just clearing up some silly statements. Its garbage that CB salesmen tell customers thats just silly.
