He could possibly work into that Home Depot dedicated account over there in TN.

I'm fairly new to driving. Drove for 5 months before family issues forced me off the road for 2 years. I'm looking to get back into it, and I have been reading these forums. It seems like Maverick is a good company from what I have read.

I do have a few questions though. I was wondering what the pay/mile is like. The company I drove for before paid percentiles, and I averaged around 800$ take home a week, will I be able to make about that much?

How often are the trucks cycled(new trucks replacing old trucks)?

And lastly, They say home time fore flatbed is every weekend, how often does this actually happen?

Thanks for taking the time to read and answer my questions.

Pay is mileage and $800 take home sounds doable after you get your own truck. Trucks are generally cycled every 2.5yrs,they kerp pretty new equipment. Flats average 45-48weekends at home a year. Some average more depending where you live.

Well, I live in Ohio, so I'm not sure if that means anything for home time. I only have about 6 months of driving experience, about 2 years ago, family issues made me come off the road and ive been looking to go back for a while now, do you think I will have to go through the full training period? Also, is there a rule about idling, or are the trucks equipped with an APU?

You'll probably have to go with a trainer, sorry. And the newer trucks have apu's.

Well Jim I am satisfied that things worked out the way they did. I did not make it through Maverick orientation and the lady recruiter made a claim about only having to drag the tarp for the testing phase.
And that was the only reason I thought I might qualify to become Maverick material .
The third day I realized I had to dead lift 100+ lbs in a wooden box after going up and down steps
and lifting other boxed weights. Then lift more weights ? " Ridiculous " I believe there was 120lbs worth of sand bags in there. And I was signed up and destined to be in the refrigerated division.
The day that I returned to Texas , I got two phone calls from local companies, of which I am now working and driving 2011 tractor with MP-10 motor and an automatic trans. Couldn't be more satisfied.

I feel that the things that a recruit is made to do at orientation are very well planned out and do simulate the rigors of what we do in the flatbed divisions well. Now, as far as the TCD division, I do not know if they should have to go through the parts that you refer to or not, I don't think that they have to throw tarps and chains around a whole bunch. However, it is what it is...
