hi, having looked at the BAD companies and GOOD companies,i see some are on both lists,so I wondered if you could let me know which companies:

have 6 weeks or longer training periods that are actually training and not just teaming (that is trainer sleeping while you are rolling)?
    have OTR jobs?
    have a decent orientation?

I can tell you of a couple company's I did allot of looking into but for one reason or another I didn't qualify for, one was Prime which I was impressed with even though they have a pretty long training period compared to some others plus they pay more during training then most. I liked the idea they have reefer, flat & tanker all within the same company and most people seem to be mostly satisfied there.

The other company was May the way they train the trainer stays in the passenger seat and does not team drive from what I've heard you both take your 10hr break at the same time and training time can be only 2 -6 weeks depending on how fast you pick things up or how much experience you have and than they cut you loose. May does not train drivers to get a CDL though you must already have a CDL or go to a truck driving school first but if I remember right they have a tuition reimbursement plan.

I know there must be more but those are the two I liked and if I payed for a school again out of my own pocket I would choose W/S but they have no trainer just a 10 day training & orientation than your on your own.

    gambiasurfgirl Thanks this.

Probably gonna be difficult to find that long of a training program without some teaming. The truck isn't making the company money when it's sitting. Probably the reason companies that train without teaming are 3 to 4 weeks. I was satisfied with Conway Truckload's system. I think the student currently drives a minimum of 10,000 miles.
