If the USX recruiter "didn't seem to care", and didn't answer your questions, how do you think working for them would be?

You are 23 and have not figured out what company you want to work for the rest of your life. Man what is wrong with you. Get into the game. Let me tell you who will take care of some one like yourself who can't make up his mind. Uncle Sam. Grab yourself a rifle Marine and hit the beach. :biggrin_25516:

If you need to go with a starter company call Schneider.

Swift starting pay, 25 cents/mile. Pay while out with trainer, $400/week.
Prime starting pay, 39 cents/mile. Pay while out with trainer, $600/week.

They both have very good tractors, but Swift has a lot of junk trailers. They both let drivers with little experience, train new drivers.

Where you live, you might qualify for Primes regional pay, 44 cents/ mile.

Feel free to PM me any more questions

I worked with Swift this past September as a Trainee. Drove from Pennsylvania to California and back using an eight speed. That's all they use is eight speeds and I had a blast. I loved it. I would have stayed but I had a family emergency so I had to cut my training short and they didn't like that one bit so they put me down as I "quit" but I didn't. Anyway, when it comes to the driving test, what they are really looking for is that you drive under the speed limit, drive slowly around turns and you are aware of your surroundings. They know recent grads trained on a 10 speed and are willing to work with you on that but what ever you do, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FLOAT THE GEARS. There's nothing that pisses off an instructor more than a newbie trying to be "Joe Trucker" on a driving test. Just use the clutch.
