Well my Pro Star has been hit. Lady in a volvo decided to jump over from left lane to take the upcoming exit and slammed into the driver side just behind the lower step. Its a wonder the drives didn't go up and over the hood of her car. High patrol cited her for careless driving and i was legal and do nothing wrong. 63 in a 70 and in the right lane. I think this truck is haunted, bunk a/c no workie, nothing in the passenger door works, electric fifth wheel release works when it wants too, tpms light comes and goes. I thought international made decent trucks? Its only vot 76k on it now, and im sitting here off I70 west of Indy at a Loves

Getting unloaded at Shamrock Foods in Denver. I got home last night and got up at 0500 to go deliver this load this morning. I don't know how long I'll be here. Food warehouses, gotta love them! NOT!!! Food warehouses are the reason I quit hauling refer trailers. Oh well, even dry vans can't escape sitting sometimes waiting to get unloaded. I can feel them working the trailer, but then they have to restack it the way THEY want it. Hoping it only takes three hours or so. I'm off until Tuesday morning after this. I was going to cut the grass, but it looks like a brown carpet right now, so I don't think it needs anything except more water.

Glad you're ok. As for International's, they drivers I have talked to about them say they are having all kinds of dumb problems with them. I got my Casadia new with 236 miles on it and plastic still on the seats back at the end of February and it just rolled 50k. No problems at all. Nothing. Hmmm,,, maybe I shouldn't have said anything. Now it's probably going to all go to sh&t.

Same with my prostar. I just hit 40,000miles and not one problem other than the known issue of the blower motor going out. I'm in my way to Appleton to get a PM done.

So last night I go to a shipper in Minnesota to pickup shingles. Load assignment said they need to be tarped, I ask myself, why?
The shingles were out in the open, it started raining while they loaded me, the shingles were wet, and I still had to tarp....
Then I get to the customer, the forklift driver asks "Why in the hell did you tarp that? Were you bored?", to which I replied my company said I had to tarp it.
Now I know the shipper didn't require it be tarped, I wanna know why in the world would we tarp a load that doesn't need to be when the shipper/consignee doesn't ask for it to be?

Well perhaps you could take consolation in the tarp pay?

I have received load assignments that say to tarp and then the shipper tells me not to. I listen to the customer and inform FM of the shipper's wishes.
There are of course other areas of the load assignment that bear the infusion of logic into the situation. Another example is the pickup and delivery times, which are often assigned based on calculations of distances and hours available, rather than appointment times or hours of operation at the customer site. I like to communicate with the shipper and consignee representatives using the provided telephone number wherever possible to get first hand information.DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
I'll be doing that a lot more.
FM said I had an appt for 1000. Customer said they don't do appts. FCFS basis only.
