I started driving because I did lose my former job. Got a BA from UF doncha know? However, I grew up around trucks and auto mechanics. Mom owned a locksmith business, stepdad was a truck driver. So this was familiar territory. ^.^

My trainer was an old sweat and I did the opposite of what he taught. One of those guys that wouldn't help and was a know it all... My second trainer grabbed my breast at a truck stop and I knocked him out and he was arrested that very night. He was still working for that company. CR England. I quit and went to conway. And now I'm with Knight. I have now 250k miles under my belt... And one day I'll get a local driving job but I enjoy driving OTR.

I am in that situation right now. Originally, I got my CDL shortly after I got out of the Army due to a lack of jobs. I haven't been in a semi in over a decade. Since then I got a masters in business and minored in psych. Due to the economy, I am going to be driving again. I never let the CDL lapse.

But I fell in love with driving a really big truck... I always liked em and everytime I drive I think of RoadHammers or She thinks my tractor's sexy. Semi trucks are a very sexual thing to me, be it the gear shifter, or sliding it into the hole.

That song kinda describes the way I operate other than the fact I never had a ticket or at fault accident in my life, not even a parking ticket.... o.o

    That's why the smilie. :D
    It was rhetorical. :D

I do hope we can get together soon though, if we don't run our business, then someone else (companies, governments, so-called safety groups) will.

I was thinking about this thread just yesterday while driving down the road.

My opinion is still the same though. There will continually be drivers with little experience training others how to drive. Until some guys with a lot of years decide to go work for the likes of Swift, Werner, England, etc., nothing will change. For the most part, crappy companies are the ones that take new guys and people with experience don't want to work for a crap company, let alone train at one.
