Theoretically, if I maybe knew of a company, that was breaking DOT rules concerning equipment inspections, driver drug testing, record keeping, etc, where would be the best place to report this, if such a company existed?
Just wondering....

You can do that right here, and anonymously too.

Or you can call 1-800- Iam-asnit-ch.
My actual feelings on this is have you tried to express your opinions in house. If so then call the DOT. Be aware that if the company shuts down you could be out of work but it is the right thing to do. Using the link above would be the best way to go. You must keep your head down.CAXPT Thanks this. -
Except for the snitch shot,
, I agree with your points on progression. If you approach the company and they're unwilling to do their job, you have a duty to yourself to remove yourself from that hazardous environment whether they shut down, you're fired for bringing it to their attention, or you quit; and in order to safeguard your own family, to report "egregious" safety violations to http://nccdb.fmcsa.dot.gov/HomePage.asp.
Like I keep saying, self-policing won't work if responsible adults don't do the responsible thing. As others have pointed out, there is a difference.

TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
How would you feel if said company truck ran over a mini van full of kids and killed 3 or 4 ? Then, it comes out in the news later that said truck was full of defects ? AND you knew about it ? And didn't say anything about it ? Would you then be concerned about being a "snitch "? Is your "honor" worth more than some innocent kids lives ? Dude, grow some, OK ? It's the right thing to do.

Don't bother, CR England has all the judges and politicians in their back pocket like so many nickles and dimes.CenutryClass Thanks this.

It's a former employer. I'm concerned about their attitude, which basically is "well, if we get caught, we'll just pay the fines". That does nothing for the drivers there, or the public in general. Talking to the powers that be gets you nowhere.
One of many reasons I've moved on!CAXPT and TRKRSHONEY Thank this. -
mister g's link is confidential. If they find it justified, they'll sneak in there with an in house inspection. Your name will never be brought up.
I'd be careful if I still worked for a company because a log audit can bring fines. I'd guess the reporter would be immune.
It would look better if more than one reported them. Hand flyers out with the link in the break room!

My old supervisor also moved on, he was tired of beating his head against the wall with management over this. Plus he didn't want to be in the middle if and when the %^x&&% hit the fan.
The breakroom idea is a good one!!TRKRSHONEY Thanks this.
