Gearjammer, how about FFE( Frozen Food Express)? They have a school in Dallas that's also free (as long as you stay with them awhile), plus people in south Florida gotta eat, too!, not to mention loads of juice back out. Plus, I believe they pay alot better than 12 cents a mile, more like 32cents I think.
Looks like CRST wants to bring me on.

All these people say no, its a bad idea but you already have it made up in your mind. You know what you are gonna do. Regardless of what anyone says here.

"DANMISSOURI" I looked at FFE at first and was really wanting to sign on with them but found out that they only hire from the Jacksonville area. I was hoping they would hire further south. They have a terminal In Winter Haven and Miami but won't hire from where I'm at does'nt make much sense but it is what it is.I talked to Stevens as well but was told I was out of hiring area.
"IceCreator" I'm kind of on the fence. But if it's my only option well then it's my only option and I'll have to stick it out and make the best of it.I'm listening to everyones advice just keeping it open until I decide on what to do. It's just hard to make the right move from other people's opinion. Hopefully someone will chime in with some positives about the company that I can way out as well. As of right now this is the only company that is interested and that will hire me where I am and if this is all I get for offers well then I guess I'm going to crst.As of right now I have'nt settled on anything, i will make a decision in the next couple of days. -

Keep in mind CRST is all team operated I believe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please. So you will have no choice but to team with someone. And the chances of them living in south Florida are pretty slim. Which will make home time a biggggg issue. I understand your dilemma completely. I didn't want to go OTR at all out of CDL school but I knew if I wanted a good local job I had to get the experience. Im lucky enough to live in NY so I live in the hiring range of alot of companies but the decision on who to go with is tough no doubt. For me I chose US Xpress and it's been "alright" so far but I can't hardly wait to go home and get something local so I can lay in my own bed with my pregnant fiancé every night. Every doctor appointment and day I miss with her is like needles in my spine. But gotta do what ya gotta do sometimes! Good luck on your search and remember that in the end it will pay off even if it sucks for awhile!
DragonDriver305 Thanks this. -
Communication is key if you work there. I put almost 2 years there. They aren't the best but they aren't the worst either. I made good money, got all the miles I wanted and always got home when scheduled. They will take advantage of you though if you let them. I only left because my I decided team driving was no longer for me.

I drive for central refrigerated and went to company payed training with people from sfla, as far a ft. lauderdale. Ive made 3 deliveries in miami, so getting home is possible. Just remember when you start, wherever you start, hometime is a pain, especially for us floridians, and the less you go home the more money you make.
